Great location & wonderful views. Lovely & helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Pool table

No Tea & Coffee in the room. Bar only was able to serve beer & wine - no spirits Full breakfast was overpriced, as it didn’t have sausages, black & white pudding, Also didn’t have condiments like Brown Sauce or Tobasco for Pizza, etc.

We really enjoyed our stay here, it was nice and cosy. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was really nice. The views from the lodge were amazing, we were travelling by car to explore the island, the lodge was conveniently located! Teresa was so helpful, she gave us information on the island and a map and she even gave us a lift to the village and she got us a reservation at the pub. The room was good, spacious and the value for money was good too. We would definitely stay here again.

Only gripe from me was the lack of plug sockets and the shower head that didn't work great.

Relaxed, friendly, comfortable

We've used Pure Magic for many years as a main restaurant option when we're on Achill. This time we stayed as overflow accommodation for a family gathering at our home nearby. The imaginative combination of an Irish vernacular building with electic French styling in reimagining the former McDowell's hotel, gives the accommodation real warmth and puts a smile on your face as you stay. The table service Breakfast was excellent, reception & checkin was friendly and relaxed, evening meal was up to it's usual high standard of French bistro style food, and our large group meal for 20 was accommodated with patience and 'Bon homie'.

We were staying in the room at the front of the building, which had outstanding views of the cliffs near Minaun Heights. The room was huge and we had plenty of space to organise our belongings! Breakfast was included in our booking, and even with our early check out, they provided us with a small basket of bread and fruits. The attached pub had excellent food, and was lively, but you could not hear the noise in the rooms quarter at all (good sound proofing maybe?). Our car was parked across the street, and with street lights nearby, it felt secure.

Our room got very cold in the night, but we did use the extra blankets to keep warm.
