The room was a good size. It was lovely to be greeted with tea and scones. Parking was good. Host was very thoughtful.

It was on a main road so noisy at times.

Lots of things to like. The property itself is well located within the area, off road parking is available. The room we were allotted was clean, well furnished with lots of drawer/ wardrobe storage space if staying for more than a few days, as we did. Bed was perfectly comfortable. The room had en suite facilities, which included a very powerful shower…guaranteed to blow away the cobwebs of a morning! Nice garden space at the back which catches the sun, where you could sit and have a cold one… Breakfasts were excellent, good portions size with good local produce for the Full English lovers out there, enjoyed very much. There are also fruit salad, yoghurt, fruit juice and cereal options also, as well as as home made jams with the toast. But the best thing about The Firs was the host, Judith. She was as good a host as you are ever likely to come across, doing everything she could to make the stay as enjoyable as it could be. So many nice touches, including being welcomed with tea and scones on arrival, making sure we had chilled water when we came back to the property - very welcome in the hot weather. She did everything she could to accommodate us (hopefully we weren’t too demanding as guests!) despite being short handed and running the Tea Rooms also. It was really was very much appreciated. And on the subject of the Tea Rooms, she is an excellent baker! Can highly recommend the large scones and the Bakewell Tart…. So would we return? Absolutely. A very enjoyable stay and highly recommended.

Minor thing - with the property being located close to the Main Street, you do hear some traffic noise, which isn’t continuous by any means - it’s a village after all - but when the tractors and trailers go rattling through, you do hear them…. But to be fair, it’s certainly not a constant and exacerbated by the fact we had to have windows open in the hot weather, when sleep is at a premium…. So not a gripe as such, just a function of village life, in hot weather conditions, but felt it was worth a mention. And out of the control of the property, as they have no influence over the traffic or weather!
