Luxurious Homestay- Chandīgarh

Everything was great. Hosts spoke perfect English and were lovely and very helpful. Room was large and comfortable. We loved it there. Thank you.

The hosts are very kind and friendly. I stayed here for 2 nights, the room is quite comfortable and I got all the things I need here.

I have mixed feelings about this accommodation. On the positive side: - I was able to check in much earlier, at 08:00, which was great after a long journey with bad flight connections. - The host kindly washed some clothes for me at no extra charge. - The location is excellent, situated in a posh neighborhood and only 15 minutes away from Sector 17, a district with various shops. - The host made an effort to engage in conversations. - The room, bathroom and house were super clean. - They lent me a charger cable for my phone, which was very helpful.

One of the main reasons I booked this accommodation was the promise of breakfast. I was excited to experience breakfast in an Indian home, but it turned out to be disappointing. The host asks you the day before what you want for breakfast, but this approach is not ideal since you have no idea what's available. She suggested a type of flatbread with potatoes, and that's exactly what was served, with nothing else. The listing on Booking.com described the breakfast as "unique," so I expected more options to be offered, even if I didn't specifically request them. While I understand this isn't a hotel, more effort could be made with breakfast to enhance the overall experience. The room and bathroom are old, though not necessarily bad. However, for a place labeled "Luxurious," it doesn't quite live up to the name. During my stay, I had a very disturbing experience. The property employs several servants for chores. One morning, I encountered a cleaner eating food on the kitchen floor beside the dog food, even though the table was empty. This was heartbreaking for me and made me feel really bad. I understand that having servants is part of Indian culture in some homes, but it was upsetting to see someone treated this way. When I asked the host about the cleaner's name, she didn't respond. I inquired why he was eating on the floor, and she said it was because he had dirty clothes. I didn't pursue the conversation further as that explanation was enough. If you are concerned about supporting this kind of treatment of people, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The hosts were so friendly and accommodating, and had such interesting life stories. I arrived from a long trip to Ladakh, and they did my laundry so quickly. Their family home is beautiful, and the neighborhood is full of interesting architecture. I am excited to return for another stay!

The location and the room was really clean, and it has all the necessary equipments to use during the day. They helped us check in early in the morning so it was a plus. They let us hang our clothes to the balcony and the host's maid kindly picked them as well. The lady was into chit chat and it was kind for her to do so. As the location is close to the center it was easy to go to section 17 where many restaurants are as well. The lady kindly informed us about the places to go and good restaurants. During the last day, they allow us to leave our luggages for a few hours and use the washroom one more time before we leave the city.

We have stayed in 5 other cities in India until now including homestays as well but the breakfast was at best average with only some bread with potato in it. When we asked for a regular tea, the owner lady told us to make it in our room. So I went back and boiled some water to prepare my own tea. I think for a stay well over budget and considered luxury there should be something more. Also regarding going back to the house, one of the owners text messaged me with (!) exclamation marks asking when we will return. With no prior information given to us, when we returned around 21.45 the lady was waiting for us with frowning eyes and and unpleasant look on her face. Another point is that the lady was looking inside the room whenever I opened the room as if we were doing sth bad inside which was clearly disturbing. As the most expensive place we have stayed in all India, the quality was good for the cleanliness and the location but apart from that we are clearly dissatisfied with the lack of hospitality. Out of courtesy, we have been provided much more help and assistance including a really welcoming atmosphere and a good quality breakfast in many other places, including pick ups, or dropping or satisfying food etc. All in all, I would not recommend this place to anyone as long as they dont necessarily want to be in sector 18 yet felt unwelcomed in various manners.

Clean comfortable room in a private home near bus station ISBT 17. Friendly hosts. Plenty of drinking water provided.

The brand name of the place is misleading. There is nothing 'luxurious' about it. It's just a decent homestay room next to the kitchen. No more no less. Breakfast was not great.
