Tru By Hilton Ankeny

We had booked & paid for 3 rooms at Tru hotel/Ankeny ahead of time on Expedia & arrived to check in to be told we had no rooms, they overbooked! We stayed in that location for a purpose. We then had to uber back & forth to a Marriott in a diff location. Did many phone calls to the hotel manager & Expedia with no responses. I guess I can understand things happen but not the lack of any response/customer service/caring/follow up. To add to it we had stayed there 2 weeks before that to be awoken by a call from the front desk saying they gave us the wrong room?! Just had to try & get back to sleep. Like their location but after 2 tries & being disappointed will not try again.

Clean, new hotel. We arrived early and were able to check into our room. There was still trash in the trash can when we got Into our room. The big problem we had was that the tv didn’t work. It wasn’t connected to the internet. I made multiple calls to the front desk. They sent maintenence to the room while we were at lunch. When we got back to the room, it still wasn’t working. So we called again. Maintenence had left for the day so still no functioning tv. They took $20 off the bill for that day. Next day, we called again. They said maintenence had arrived for the day and would get to it when he could. He finally showed up when I was in the shower getting ready to leave for the event we were in town for. He wasn’t able to fix it that time and needed a tool. So he left. Then came back with a new cable box and installed it all while we were trying to get ready to leave for a wedding. And guess what? That newly installed box didn’t solve the problem either. So the entire time we were there, we did not have a functioning television. Sorry, but a $20 discount didn’t adequately compensate us for the inconvenience. The front desk staff was really unhelpful and at times pretty rude about the situation. Unfortunate, because otherwise this was a nice hotel with great amenities.

We had booked 3 rooms & paid for them a week ago & we arrived to check in & they said they overbooked & we had no rooms. They booked us a lesser hotel 15 min away that changed our whole weekend plans & left us with no compensation or explanations.

Our room didn’t have electricity on one entire wall. We told the front desk clerk and she said she would take care of it while we were out for the evening. It wasn’t taken care of and when I went up to talk to the night shift clerk, she disappeared into a room and closed the door. I waited for 5 minutes and she never returned.

When we checked in and went to our room, it hadn't been cleaned from the prior guests. Beds were unmade.

Enjoyed stay. Very nice, employees cooperative and congenial. Have a nice breakfast!

Nice staff, breakfast was great, kids enjoyed the pool.
