The Fern Residency Ajmer

The level of hygiene and overall upkeeping was above par. The staff, including the front desk managers were extremely efficient and courteous. Cherry on the cake was the hotel's location which is just opposite the beautiful Annasagar Lake. It was a very nice and pleasant experience for me and my wife to stay at The Fern Residency, Ajmer for two days and would surely recommend this property to others.

Since we had made our booking for 2 days i.e. 30th and 31st December, we thought of participating in the New Year's party which the hotel was throwing up at the terrace. Unfortunately the amount we had to pay wasn't much different to what the non-residents were being asked to pay. Ideally the hotel management should have kept the discounted rates for those who were staying in the hotel.

Basic cleanliness

I would like to raise an issue with the behaviour of the staff at the reception. I understand that it is hotel's policy to only allow married couples to stay. I had called beforehand and conveyed that I don't have a marriage certificate. I was assured that if I provided images of my wedding card/ceremony, that would suffice. However, when we were checking in, the lady at the reception asked for IDs which we provided. My wife's id had her maiden name and the receptionist, with a lot of contempt, asked us if we were married, why did we have different surnames. My wife said the Aadhar card was made when she was a child, to which the lady (receptionist) retorted that it should have been changed post marriage. We further said that we can show our wedding card/pictures and she said, it's okay if you are recently married. I found this behaviour extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. She could have asked us to furnish proof of marriage in keeping with the policy of the hotel. But to give her personal opinions on whether my wife needs to change her surname post marriage or not, that was not her place. It would be better if the hotel trained the staff to be more professional and not carry their personal opinions/biases to work. Other than that one unpleasant encounter, our stay at the hotel was uneventful.

Since there was no buffet served due to low occupancy but all things which we asked for were served fresh and hot. Great location

V good room and facilities - a new hotel, so v spic and span. Bfast was also v good with excellent options. Masala Chai was to die for. All else v good. Happily surprised by the quality.

No negatives really - the SAFE malfunctioned in our room and refused to open - but the duty manager and staff moved very quickly to open it for us - contacting staff all the way up the chain. Very impressed with the commitment of the staff - Duty Manager was v good - on duty at night and morning night of 5/12 morning of 6/12. We will certainly go back to stay.
