"Sadly not a great start to our holiday"

5.0

We liked the location as it was near the town, restaurants and the bonus of a mini boat cruise on the Back Waters. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and Joel (staff member) was very helpful.

Unfortunately on arrival our booking had been cancelled prior to our arrival. This caused a lot of stressful confusion as we were tired from our day of travel from the UK. We had no choice but to pay for the room as we needed to sleep desperately! We managed to secure the room at a little higher cost than we had arranged with Booking.com however the hotel wasn’t willing to honour the included breakfast deal. So the following morning we had to pay for the breakfast as a further additional cost. We agreed to the terms as we needed to have a cuppa and sleep. The rooms kettle was leaking but was changed straight away. We needed to ask for cups to go with the supply of tea and coffee in the room. We also had to ask for a toilet roll. Some of these things were because they were not expecting us but at the same time we felt exhausted to be dealing with it. We rang booking.com as soon as we got that cuppa. There is still an ongoing confusion with the cancellation as to whether it was the hotels fault or booking.com. They both seem to be blaming each other. Regardless, it was not us. In fact we had emailed the hotel twice to ask about payment even though the paperwork clearly stated that no prior payment was necessary. We did not receive reply to either email prior to leaving the Uk. Although we have paid direct and have proof of receipt, we are still being emailed asking for full payment from the Treebo management chain that appears to be a third party between the hotel and booking.com.
