Nice staff. Good food.

Room/bathroom is very damp. Our room was a corner suite and the bedroom had no window but the sitting room had a window. The location is a bit out of the way.

The rooms were a delight! As was the staff who were very welcoming and attentive to our needs. The food was also quite exceptional although too much at times - you will not be hungry. The public onsen was worth a dip. They provided a loft to Gora station.

Some people may want a traditional shower; there is one but it is part of the private bath cleaning station. We leaned into it.

Beautiful hotel with private and public onsen. Rooms were beautiful and spacious. TV did not really work but we used the casting fiction to watch apps. Slippers and pajamas given to use around the hotel. Dinner was fantastic we had the wine flight which were all very good. The private onsen was wonderful and in the morning we had a beautiful view over the hills.

The hotel was very far away from the station - 40 mins by bus. Apparently there is a shuttle service from Gora station but we didn’t know this. We had walked 30 mins up steep steps from the bus stop and it was so uphill we couldn’t walk any further with our luggage. We ended up using a locals phone to call the hotel and they came to pick us up. I asked to be dropped at the bus stop in the morning which was met with some push back from the staff but eventually they agreed as if they were doing us a favour. It was only 2 mins more down the hill. We arrived later than we wanted due to the location, around 7 and I had booked our dinner for 8.30. We were pressured into moving our dinner forward to 7.30, which was a shame as I had wanted to enjoy the onsen before dinner. The breakfast was traditional Japanese with no choice and unfortunately it was too much for us in the morning - miso soup/raw fish/squid/savory custard… I only ate the rice and felt so bad as there was so much waste. It would have been better to be given some options as done for the dinner to prevent waste.

Great stay and service. We really appreciated how well they treated the vegetarians in our group. Japanese food is typically not vegetarian friendly but here the chefs went out of their way to prepare delicious vegetarian (no fish broth!) kaiseki meals for us. In some of the courses, the veg options were even better than the non-veg ones.

The property is close to some amazing hikes and trails, but they didn't really provide any suggestions or ideas. I think most guests either stay at the resorts itself or explore by car.
