HOTEL R9 The Yard Fukuyama

Small but cozy. The container is equipped with bath tub/shower, toilet, microwave, refrigerator and kettle. Friendly staff but front desk only opens from 8am to 10pm. Coin laundry room also closes at 10pm. Traffic noise outside can be heard but ear plugs are provided at the front desk as well as ready to eat meals, coffee and tea.

Good location as we were driving but you do need to be heading east to access the car park. Not sure you would use this hotel if you weren't in a vehicle. Room was very clean and functional. The free meal and drinks was a nice bonus. We thought the pods were fun. Staff were very helpful and we thought it was great value for money.

You need to loop around to get access to the car park which is off the dual carriageway. We were heading to Hiroshima from Kyoto so heading west and access is easiest when you're travelling east. Different loop in the morning to get back on track. Our room was attached to the reception and closest to the road which I think is used as a bit of a racetrack at night so our room was a bit noisy. We still enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Extremely clean. They have a very kind receptionist in the evening. You get a free frozen meal extra.

Free meal coupon for each day staying here. Cleaning is very thorough. Staff are very nice and accommodating and helped a lot despite the slight language barrier. Free amenities and hot drinks at the front desk are always nice too.

Bit out of the way so hope you like walking or many trains/ buses. Unable to stay in a 5 hour period (for the cleaning), so keep that in mind

Parking lot is not directly in front of the room. Those rooms facing inside will have to walk around the property. Can be a little inconvenient especially when is cold. Easily missed the entrance as is along the highway.
