The Dusit Thani is truly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The staff were unbelievable professional, courteous, and kind. I felt taken care of the moment I got there, and the price was absolutely worth it. The hotel is within walking distance of the train station, the main downtown area, as well as numerous quieter and smaller shops. It is within reasonable commute to nearly all the major tourist destinations in Kyoto. My only critiques are two: - no microwave in the rooms - no ice machine (you have to call the front desk for someone to come to your door to give you an ice bucket with ice in it, I have no idea why this is) - mini bar in room has specialty water that is 1000 yen each, but the free water that comes in aluminum bottles is the SAME brand as this specialty water so for the first few days of our stay we thought that there was no free water in the room at all! We just drank water using the bathroom tumblers from the faucet until I went to the gym and saw piles of the aluminum bottles of water just sitting out for people to take for free. I would recommend making it more clear that these bottles of water are free.
