KABIN Gion - formerly KABIN Minamiza

A clean and comfortable room, much larger than others we stayed in. The on site laundry was very helpful for a long stay too. The location is ideal as it’s close to the river so you can visit both sides.

They kept it nice and simple, the space was extremely functional and utilized the limited space quite well. The bathroom was amazing, I didn't want to leave the shower behind.

The laundry machine failed to dry my clothes even after 3 dry cycles.

Location is great,4min walking distance to gion shijo stop, staff are nice, you can get an iron for your room if you ask them. There’s locks so you can leave your bag on each floor before or after checkout. Checkin and check out was done on the tablet. There’s also umbrellas. Room was really large, had hair drier and enough towels. There’s an amenities trolley in the hallway so you can help yourself.

The beds were too hard and all the pillows bulky. Vacuuming could be better as I saw long hairs on the chairs and floor. It does get noisy from the street below and walls are thin so you can hear the stomping from above. Also you can’t open windows so no air circulation except with AC. Would be great if you can crack open the windows a few cm.

Easy check in and check out. Great location. Loved the shower.

Very small trashcan. Ended up taking a lot of our trash to public trashcan nearby to avoid disposal fees. No in room coffee, just tea.

Right in the smack-middle of Gion this is a perfect location to explore the city. 5 minutes from the train station and surrounded by great sights and food places. Pontocho alley is a 6 minutes walk away. Yasaka Shrine is 8 minutes away and even Kiyomizu-Dera is only a very picturesque walk 25 minutes away (however the bus stop if you want to take it is 2 minute walk).

Great location and good size for family with small kids
