"terrible mattress and too far from the city centre / cheap and the host is responsive"

The price - it was the cheapest available flat in the city. The host is responsive and everything (signing papers for the rent, paying tourist tax etc.) is done online via a portal. The check-in was ok

The bed / mattress is terrible with a pit in the middle so I and my partner kept sliding toward the centre of the bed. The apartment is located at the ground floor with windows overlooking a parking lot so we ended up shutting the curtains all the time - otherwise people could see you. The location is 3/5, the neighborhood is ok and there's a bus service so you can get to the city centre in 30min (a little walk to the bus station + a bus ride) but we had to call a taxi to the airport at night (took us 15min to get there) and pay €50 instead of using local bus service for €3 for two people it we had stayed in the city centre

"We had a lovely time in Bologna. Transport close by. Even did an overnight to Venice."

Comfortable, able to prepare a meal. Transport and grocery shop very close and walking distance to a few lovely cafes and restaurants.

No kettle.
