Casa Alondra

My husband and I just spent five nights at Casa Alondra and would have eagerly stayed several more if only we’d made reservations earlier (the hotel has just 6 rooms). We were greeted by the manager Deri, whose genuine warmth and good humor set the tone for our stay. Deri showed us to our airy and spacious Colonial room with an insanely comfy bed and luxe bathroom. Our room opened onto Diega, the hotel’s restaurant set among olive trees and a gurgling fountain. During our stay, Michele at the front desk answered endless questions about her city, and like any gifted ambassador, she shared her love of her hometown so generously that I felt as if I truly belonged there. Michele’s awesome colleague Yatzel also offered countless tips and guidance, and as a university student, she provided all kinds of insight into the mysteries of student life in this great university town. On our first evening, we were treated to the yummiest welcome ever, a chocolate mousse created by Chef Dan Corona for the hotel restaurant Diega, which warrants its own 5 star review. We foolishly dined at the restaurant only once, on our last night—so be smarter than us and don’t wait! Chef Corona’s interpretation of traditional cuisine, especially his take on Tarascan bisque, was inspired and utterly irresistible. I should have known from the complimentary chocolate mousse—on our first night—to hightail it to Diega, but we were out and about so much that I didn’t take sufficient advantage of what was right in front of me. I know better for the next time, and there will be plenty of those. Casa Alondra is a gem, and one I’ll return to whenever I possibly can.

My stay was absolutely wonderful. The bed was incredibly comfy, and it was totally silent at night, which made for a perfect night’s sleep. I really appreciated the free Netflix access—such a nice touch for relaxing in the room. Upon check-in, I was welcomed with a complimentary drink, and later I received a surprise dessert from the chef delivered right to my room. Every little detail was so thoughtful and clearly aimed at making guests feel special. I truly loved the whole experience and would definitely return!

We stayed for the weekend for a family reunion and it was the perfect place close to the historical downtown, where we could walk to the colonial area with plenty of options for shopping, dining and landmarks. the room cozy and catalog picture perfect and very comfortable and quiet. and outside the room you have the interior garden with a fountain and the restaurant bar which is also very quiet and with excellent service. I loved this place. Staff has excellent customer service.
