The Stay Hue Myeongdong

Great Location in the Heart of Myeongdong – 4/5 The Stay Hue is in an excellent location—right in the middle of what I think is the best part of Seoul for tourists. Myeongdong is packed with great shops, restaurants, bars, karaoke spots, and fun things to do. (Think: Shinjuku in Tokyo, Broadway in Nashville, or Greenwich Village in NYC.) The rooms are small, which is typical for Korea and Japan, but very clean and well-maintained. It’s important to note that this is not a full-service hotel—it occupies a single floor within a mixed-use building. That said, the value and location are hard to beat. Some thoughtful touches include free coffee in the lobby, reasonably priced laundry service, and my favorite feature: each room has a water machine that dispenses filtered ice-cold water. The subway is just a short walk away, and the lively night market is literally right outside the entrance. In short, if you’re looking for a clean, affordable place in a vibrant area and don’t need amenities like room service, a gym, pool, or concierge, The Stay Hue is a solid choice. I’m giving it 4/5 stars—only because Expedia didn’t make it clear that this wasn’t a traditional hotel.

This is a small hotel, just one floor in a high building in the middle of vibrant Myeongdong. The rooms are small but very clean and seems newly renovated. Perfect for a shorter stay in Seoul.

Receptionists were very pleasant. Jeong Seung Woo was especially helpful. Bed was clean. Water dispenser was good.

Failed Cleanliness and tidiness: 1.Bin in Toilet had rubbish from previous tenant, including female disposable waste, 2. Toilet Roll cover had thumbprints. (See pics) 3. Toilet roll left from previous tenant was not folded. Had marks of pulled paper from previous use. Poor facility Designs (See Pics): 1. Bathroom was not enclosed. Cold air on my back while bathing. 2. Floor floods with water after bath. Imagine walking through the dirt you just washed from your body. 3. Towel rack is just in front of toilet seat, all the bacteria from the faecal matter gets flushed there. 4. Tea tray and hair dryer was below clothes cupboard. If you had worn clothings to reuse next day, the dirty bottoms of the dresses will touch the drinking cups, the dirt will drop onto the tray and dryer. Failed to deliver promised facilities: 1. Promised View. only had small window that looked out to opposite building. (See pic) 2. Room was supposed to have kettle, but didn't. Lack of needed facility: 1. No iron. (Which I missed when checking the facility list). 2. Cleaner has a lack of service attitude. Only 1 toilet roll was placed ONCE when one is half used. I had to worry about a lack of toilet paper on my last day. Even though it can be easily obtain by asking the front desk during 8am-10pm, but it is an inconvenience. No extra disposable slippers was supplied after I used 2 pairs. 3. Bed was not tidied during cleaning. 4. No chair nor table in room, had to eat on the bed. 5. Tea, coffee, dining table was actually on the shared area, not in the room. Iffy Location: On an sideway alley, where people smoked or take drugs. Was hard to locate. Had some steps which I had to pull my luggage up. Price: This was more like a hostel than a hotel. Totally not worth it, even though it is at the heart of Myeong dong. There are other discrepancies that I cannot speak enough of. Don't come here.

JUNG is a great host.

Like that the place is centrally located with eatery and night market just step away. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Locating the place was a little confusing for us since it’s tucked behind the storefront and on the same building with others business. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Situated admits the most vibrant area of Myeongdong, yet not noisy at all inside the hotel room

Shower area and dry toilet area are not distinctly separated .. No chair in the room
