Really great, mountain modern hotel right in the heart of the Schweitzer village. Rooms are spacious and come with the special touches needed at a ski resort hotel - boot dryers, binoculars, and an air humidifier.

"Beautiful Hotel - Great Design!"

10.0

Beautiful hotel with great attention to detail. The design of the rooms is great - spacious with great and accessible storage. Loved the large shelving/desk unit -- so functional! Room was large and impeccably clean. I loved the choice of the long bench along the window as opposed to a few chairs. Design was such that even rooms situated behind another building still have good view of Lake Pend Orielle. Black out shade was perhaps the best I've seen at a hotel, fit the large window perfectly. It was so nice to have so much light in the room, but able to get it dark early for my kiddos to sleep. We stayed there in the summer, so there is a lack of amenities up there, but not the hotels fault as winter is a much busier season for them. Front desk staff made complementary lattes and hot chocolates which were great and an appreciated offer for someone who doesn't drink black coffee (not sure if this just a summer thing when other coffee shops closed). Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Drive down to Sandpoint is not bad, would definitely recommend considering for a summer stay. I will not the pool available for use (at a neighboring hotel) is not in the greatest condition - a bit cold and pretty unkept pool area, but my kids didn't mind that much.

"Terrific Summer Stay"

10.0

We were looking for a unique place to stay after a week at Glacier National Park. We had one extra night before our flight out of Spokane and Humbird seemed like a fun choice. We did not know when we booked that there was a Wine Festival that weekend, but other than parking, the festival was a fun surprise. It's a long drive up the mountain and when we arrived a parking attendant pointed us to a far-away lower lot. Since we were unfamiliar with the village we did not know that meant a walk up a steep dirt path (with luggage). Thankfully, we saw some workers on a break and they told us where to wait for the shuttle. It came along 10-15 minutes later and took us up to the village, where we then had to wade through the crowds and walk about a block with our luggage until we arrived at Humbird. I point this out because we later learned we could have requested driving up to the building and doing a drop-off right in front of the hotel, or parking in the garage ($15/night in summer). Check-in was fine and we were given a card for a free latte each (there were 3 in our room). The hotel has a minimalist style so the random chairs/tables you find in the corridors look sparse and practical rather than sink-in comfy (like you find in nearby Selkirk Lodge). There is a cozy fireplace in the lobby but we did not sit there as it was July. Our two-queen room was spacious with lots of practical amenities: a coat rack (pegboard with pegs that could be rearranged to suit your need), small fridge, microwave, coffeepot stocked with good coffee and tea; paper plates, and plastic cutlery. There is a noise machine, a boot dryer, and a nice long bench/sofa. There are plenty of phone charging options. The bathroom is modern and spacious with a separate toilet room. After using the big shower I started envisioning one just like it in my own home. We walked right outside our door and were immersed in a fun crowd with good music at the wine fest. It ended at 7 p.m. so there was no worry about noise during sleep hours. We enjoyed the scenic chairlift ride up the mountain and found a pub right across from Humbird for our dinner. The only drawback of our experience was the pool/hot tub. Relaxing in a hot tub or pool before our flight home was a priority for us as we ended our vacation. The hot tub and roof deck at Humbird were not open when we visited in July 2023 but we were directed to Selkirk Lodge. That pool was too cold to use comfortably and the hot tubs (there are three little ones) were completely full of people who didn't move the entire evening. We went three times trying to utilize the hot tubs but had no chance. That was certainly a disappointment. Check-out the next morning was easy and we were able to bring the car up so we could load luggage right in front of the hotel. The staff made us each a latte. I would definitely stay here again in the summer especially if the roof deck/hot tub at Humbird were open. That is something we would love to experience. The summer rate for this hotel seemed a decent value (mid $200s)

"Humbird Hotel"

6.0

The new Humbird Hotel is very well built and has very nice rooms with great access to ski lifts, restaurants, and bars. However, the value of what you are getting in the room is not there. $650/night for a very "average" room. I have paid less for much more luxury on mountain lodging at places like Aspen and Jackson Hole so I'm not sure how they landed on their price point here at Humbird. Overall, nice hotel but very unlikely to return due to the value.
