Lumina at Amaya Tulum

The apartment is very spacious. Having three bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms was perfect for our family of four. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking utensils, coffee maker, pots and pans, sugar, coffee, salt and pepper, oil and vinegar. We were able to cook daily breakfasts and a few lunches, which helped offset the high cost of eating out. Bath towels are thick and large and we were provided with beach towels as well. The Aldea Zama neighborhood is quiet and safe, with lush surroundings. The property has offstreet parking. Highly recommend having a rental car or scooters.

The apartment has only one TV in the living room. While we don’t watch a lot of TV on vacation, it would have been nice to have one in the master bedroom. There is only one couch in the living room that fits two people comfortably. Perhaps the property owners could add another one as there is certainly space for it. Kitchen lighting is also limited and felt dark after sunset. The washing machine wasn’t working well for us, but the property staff responded well to our inquiries. Turns out you have to manually advance each cycle. You are only provided one towel per person, so having a working machine is important if staying more than a few days. No face wash cloths are provided. Lastly, regarding location, be aware that you’ll do a lot of driving whether going to downtown Tulum or the beach area. There’s a lot of winding roads, speed bumps and potholes.

I had a party of 5 property sleeps 6, we only had towels for 4 people leaving me having to use one of the 4 beach towels when getting out the shower. AC for the master bed room and bedroom 1 was warm air blowing. Maintenance came and could not fix it. Outside the mentioned, the property was clean and welcoming. Neighborhood was quiet and close to food and shopping which is a plus.
