Wonderful location. Not your average beach hotel.

The Shambhala is one of the most unique and delightful hotels I've ever stayed at. It has an amazing and helpful staff, with a great view of the beach and sunrises. The hotel itself has so many different types of rooms and it's not a "building" but a series of fascinating structures, some with AC, some without (where we stayed, and it wasn't too hot) but it almost feels like a fairytale of different experiences.

For me personally, I felt that this hotel was a little ways out of the town. There wasn't too much going on in the area at night. It's a totally safe walk to town, so this might be a plus for some. There were also a few minor issues with showers in the morning, but were taken care of!

I stayed three nights at this property that is recovering from the hurricane with its alluring design and flora still in tact. Shambhala was the first property to grace Zipolite with its presence and the layout and sense of space is pretty magical. I felt like I was with family as I got to know Claudia, Maria, Maru, Quetzal, Alex...etc., when I realized this IS a family, taking excellent care of its guests while rebuilding from Hurricane Agatha. The room that I stayed in was out of a Greek island, boasting THE best views of the beach, the very best sunrises, and a quick hike to Meditation Point for glimpses of the sunset. There is ample space to stretch out, some prime beach property at the foot of the hill with chairs and full service (and offering spa services), and again, getting to know this family, coming together, rebuilding, it's pretty special. Can't wait to go back in May. Loved it and can't recommend enough.

Wifi in my room was spotty, this is not rare in Zipolite, and it was nice to take a break. I also didn't like that I couldn't stay forever. : )

This is an awesome place to stay! Tons of character and an amazing view of the bay. The best ceviche we had on our whole trip. And the price was great too. We ll go back to Shambala!

The best thing about the property is the family who owns and runs it. Very accommodating! Our room was clean. The common area, very comfortable. It’s the last property on the beach, so was quiet and relaxing. I would definitely stay here again.

The view is spectacular. Definitely the best sunrise view in Zipolite. And best full beach view. Claudia and her husband are so warm, helpful, generous.
