Black Sands Inn

Great spot to stay in Shelter Cove.

It was a little hard to check in because we had not received the door code email. A phone call took care of the problem though. We live the room. The only other suggestion would be to wash the windows.

Outstanding location, literally steps above and overlooking excellent tide pooling and a beach. The coastal flowers in between offering a perfect frame. Great coffee shop 100' south. Clean tasteful room. The lack of insight management was a first for us and present a few minor logistical challenges, the most important thing to know is that the code you're given for your room is NOT for the lockboxes in the unstaffed office. It's to be entered in the slightly finicky digital locks on each room door. Parking for a few vehicles directly on premises is possible but it's not clear who it's for (with a roof box we used a spot at the office). Numerous good restaurants nearby and the one town grocery is decently stocked. Ten minute drive from the Black Sands beach serving as the southern terminus of the Lost Coast Trail segment running 25 miles north to Mattole.

Absolutely awesome.

The Inn is right on the water which is quite magical.

There is absolutely no better view of the ocean in any place that I have ever stayed in, amazing! The check out time is a little early 10:00, and most of us leaving were closer to 10:15 - 10:30.

Location, rooms are facing beach, clean and comfortable room, quiet.

Awesome property. Comfortable condo-like accommodations with spectacular view. Private cove and secluded. Off the beaten path and worth the drive.
