Beacon Hotel

Adored Room 5. The bay window area is so wonderful and the bed was luxuriously comfortable.

Rooms great. Lots of amenities, cooking facilities. Lots of lovely big towels. Comfy beds. Clean. Little things: wash up liquid and sponge provided, no tiny bottles of shampoo. Big things: rooms (we had the one shown above) a lovely size, big comfy bed, plenty of places to sit: brilliant. We needed assistance and it was prompt and pleasant and helpful

The entrance: unassuming and always smelling of weed, wondered what on earth we were walking in to the first time. Other people’s smells: cooking especially, permeated to a surprising extent. Lacking in instructions (we needed help to operate the heating in one room). It’s a bit unfinished: lovely bench with facilities to plug things in and charge phones but no where for the bench to be plugged in, for example.

Loved the location and the key code setup. The room was perfect for a lone traveler and I loved its decor. Loved the mock fireplace heater - great touch.

The recycling truck outside ran from 8am til 11am - loud. Is this every day?

The property is centrally located and walkable to all the restaurants and shops. The room was clean and and newly decorated. Room has a coffee pot and cooking appliances. John the owner gave us his card if we needed anything. Overall this was perfect for our stay in Beacon and we would stay here again.

As from many of the reviews - This is not a hotel and to get to the room is through a few hallways and stairs. There is no elevator. Which was fine for us but if you need help with luggage it’s not ideal. The hallway is shared with an apartment building and it’s a smelly walk to the room. The rooms don’t smell. There was no fridge which is weird if you have an entire kitchen set up.

I knew that the it was not a normal hotel. I was ok with that. The hallway was dirty and smelly. The room itself was clean and had a refurbished bathroom. The fridge was great and they even left me some bottles of water. The building is in a construction zone. I stayed there two nights. The first night I was awaken to drilling at 5:30am. The second morning they waited til 8 to drill.

Definitely a don’t judge a book by its cover moment. Entry into the building and room had no issues, but it was not quite the vibes I was expecting. The minute I stepped into the room though all was good and looked exactly like the photos. Great location and the amenities suited my trip.

My room at the Beacon Hotel was delightful, decorated with an arty flair and very comfortable. The amenities of the small kitchenette and the design of the room were quite appealing. I was more put off by the entrance and the building itself.

The entrance was a little hard to locate, and the lobby was ramshackle. There was no elevator, so I basically left my suitcase in my car trunk, as my room was on the third floor. The room was secure, but getting up there was roundabout and there were no staff to help and direct.
