"Save your money go somewhere else"

2.0

Too expensive to what it is-- run down. Gardener with weedwack when should have been quiet time. Sorry to be so pointed but way over priced for such a shoddy place. Kick it up a knock and go to the Red Lion in Stockbridge. Yes more money but well with it.

"Great multi-generational family venue."

10.0

Great venue for gathering our extended family. The 7 rooms with 10 beds accomodated our 3 generations. Lots of places indoor & out to gather, several fireplaces. Staff cheerful, helpful and accomodating. Trail to Race Brook Falls. Our own dining room, great food and service.

"Avoid at all costs"

2.0

By far, the worst lodging experience we have ever had. I am baffled by the good reviews posted here. “Quaint & rustic” should not equal filthy and neglected. Room was dirty, toilet runs, sink doesn’t drain…All around horrific stay.

"Summer relaxation"

10.0

We loved the stylish room, the pool, the trails that start right on the property, the muffins in the morning, the playroom, the delicious dinners, and the proximity to Great Barrington. Exactly what our family needed for our mini summer break.

"A great experience!"

10.0

We had a wonderful stay. The staff is wonderful, the room was cozy, and the meal at the tavern excellent. We had the great pleasure to meet the owner and had a fun conversation. The prices may seem high but it is so they can pay staff a fair wage. We support this effort and love this idea. Bravo!

"Rustic overpriced shack living"

2.0

I am not surprised at the trumped up reviews of this place. Besides how crappy the whole place is, it still has its charms. All the rooms feel, smell and sound like something that was hauled in from a low-budget summer camp. Staff are friendly. Still does not negate the quality of the buildings or the ridiculous prices they command.

"Ultra-cool Boho Lodge with Heart"

10.0

The Race Brook Lodge knows its strengths and plays to them. Come here for an experience of natural beauty, kind and friendly staff and guests, boho chic, and rustic comfort. 3 generations of our family had a wonderful weekend with many special moments. Grandparents mingled by the evening fire, kids played freely and enjoyed the heated pool, and all enjoyed reading by the fire, lounging in hammocks and walking dogs on the Race Brook trail. The rooms have a homey feeling and continue the rustic vibe. We had everything we needed.

"Rustic, Friendly, Comfortable, with Great Food"

10.0

We love this place. It's definitely rustic -- the rooms have mismatched furniture and the grounds can get muddy if it's raining. But it's a lovely, relaxed, funky, welcoming place with incredibly friendly staff and amazing breakfast. (Note: coffee/tea and muffins/toast are complimentary; there's an additional charge for eggs or other items, which is reasonable and beyond worth it, especially many or all ingredients are local—eggs come from their own chickens, greens from a neighboring farm). A good number of the rooms allow dogs, which is wonderful for us, and you can go for some lovely hikes right from their property--one short but steep hike will take you to a stunning waterfall. (There are also many rooms that do not allow pets.) There's a pool, a hammock, sheltered picnic tables where we've eaten our take-out dinners, and a performance venue on site. Their restaurant is available for brunch and dinner and is a bit expensive but pays employees a living wage. As for the area, Great Barrington, Stockbridge, and other famous Berkshire towns are a short drive away and there are many places to hike, see theater or other performances, listen to music, or view art. Lots of good restaurants nearby, too. Our teenage son loves this inn, despite there being no television in the rooms. How great is that?! :-)
