Tru by Hilton Jacksonville Airport I-95

Nice hotel, staff, room, etc... they even gave me free bottled water :-) I definitely recommend!!!

This was a stop on my way up north to Florida. I was happy with my stay! It was very clean, location felt safe, restaurants within walking or short driving distance, nice breakfast in the morning, etc. I would definitely come back agan! (I thought the $75 pet fee was higher than hotels nearby but that would be the ONLY thing I would say)

I like that the check in process was seamless and that they provide a decent breakfast

Great Experience from the Moment we checked in to the Moment we left…AMAZING staff SUPER FRIENDLY and HELPFUL ..THANK YOU SAM C. For EVERYTHING …I am diabetic and on insulin which has to be refrigerated..Miss Sam C. went Above and beyond to help me with Storage and getting it back to me in the morning…Rooms were Super Clean..Beds very comfortable…Hairdryer was great to have in room…Shampoo and Conditioner smells wonderful…BREAKFAST was AMAZING…We will be back and if you are going to be in this area ( We were going on a Cruise ) this is a PERFECT place to stay…💕

Everyone who worked there was so kind and helpful. They helped me schedule the shuttle to make my flight the next morning, and were overall just cheerful. There is nothing i appreciate more thsn a warm welcome when you arrive at a hotel. The closeness to the airport was perfect!

I had a reservation on a Friday night, first week in July. Wife and I drove ten hours and entered the Tru by Hilton Jacksonville Airport I-95 at twenty past midnight. Tim greeted us. I told him I had a reservation. He found it quickly and asked for a credit card and my driver's license. He was typing on his keyboard and looking at the screen so I reached across the counter and set one after the other near him. He bent at the waist and stooped a little to read them typing away. He then said "Ok, insert your card into the chip reader." I said "Can you give me my cards back so I can do that?" He said "You need to take them back the same way you gave them to me." I'm instantly confused. They're inches from him on the counter and he wants me to come get them? My wife, trying to be helpful, reaches across the first higher level of counter to the lower, near Tim, picks up my cards and hands them to me. I now ask Tim what is going on, why wouldn't he give me back my cards so I can insert my credit card into the chip reader. He informs me that my setting cards onto the counter is something people will do to avoid having to touch a person of color's hand. (Tim's black by the way) I'm stunned. I look him in the eyes and tell him "I'm not that guy." I say 'I placed them there for your convenience because you were typing on your keyboard." He stares at me and subtlety shakes his head. I repeat "You were typing with both hands." He stares at me and shakes his head. I say "This is unbelievable, you are a representative of The Hilton, treating me like this." He says "I'm not representing the Hilton, I'm representing me and people of color." I'm beyond stunned now. I say "You know, if we met out in public and you told me that placing items near people of color can upset them I might say to you "Well that's interesting to know Tim. I had never heard that before. But to confront me here, is just wrong." I say "Well you realize I'm going to report you for this." He doesn't respond. I look him in the eyes and say "You know, in another life, we could have been friends." He says nothing. He eventually states the usual: "Breakfast is from 6-9 and the elevators are to your right." He then hands my wife one single room key. Doesn't give me one at all. That's the first time my wife and I have not each received our own key. Out of the hundreds of hotel stays I've experienced, this was the most disturbing ever. Walking into a hotel (A Hilton of all places) after ten hours on the road and being accused of being a racist for setting my license and credit card on the counter. And to have my explanation rejected outright suggesting I'm also a liar. Unbelievably bad customer service. UPDATE: I posted this review back in July and immediately received a response to my review by Dia, the Front desk manager. She apologized, which would have been fine, but she said (on the phone when I called her) that her GM, Wayne Cunningham would be contacting me. He never did. After three weeks I thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and called him. Left a message on his personal voicemail suggesting I may have missed his call. He never called back.
