"A Song of Hearth and Hospitality: An Airbnb Review"

7.0

In the height of summer, I sought refuge within a shared dwelling most wondrous—the humble inn of Lord Vincent, known throughout these lands as “The Meley’s Crimson Keep.” The market square and taverns of the city lay but a crossbow’s shot from the door. After a long and arduous journey in darkness and daylight, I entered the city as a humble traveler guided by the hope that within these storied walls, comfort and kindness might await. Upon my arrival, the doors yielded with the creak of well-oiled hinges, and though no host waited by the threshold, the space welcomed me with the silent grace of a well-guarded keep. The doors opened as promised, left by a silent steward, and every detail spoke of foresight and care befitting the halls of Winterfell. There was no host in sight—no bannerman to greet nor cupbearer to offer mead—but the provisions and comforts of the house left me wanting for nothing. Even so, word had reached me by raven: the host pledged their services day or night, should any shadow or trouble threaten my stay. The sleeping chamber itself was a marvel: immaculate, with tapestries and banners adorning the walls bearing the sigil of House Targaryen. Though spare and efficient, in such a chamber, one might almost imagine themselves under the protection of the Mother of Dragons herself. The privy, too, was clean and private—no stench here, only the scent of freshly laundered cloths for our long-awaited hot bath. The bed was soft as freshly fallen snow upon the fields of the Riverlands, its linens finer than those spun in Oldtown.

Yet, as the hour grew late, our sleep was oft interrupted by the wildlings quartered in the neighboring chamber—their merriment and raucous tales echoing through the night like a clan gathering beyond the Wall. The walls between us, alas, proved as thin as the parchment upon which Maesters pen their secrets, offering little defense against the onslaught of revelry. So vigorous were the wildlings in their nocturnal pursuits that the bed in their quarters rocked and thundered as if a great bear wrestled within, shaking the very stones and timbers of the keep. Judging by the thunderous stomping and the whinnying that accompanied their revelry, I daresay these wildlings must have shared their rooms with horses, for never have I known such a cacophony from mere men. Thus is the way of a shared dwelling: one must expect the company of others, both friend and stranger alike. When the disturbance reached its peak, I dispatched a raven to the host, who, true to their word, responded with swift and decisive action. Whether by magic or the iron will of a seasoned lord, the host subdued the wildlings, restoring peace to the halls. Once more, tranquil silence settled, and we slept undisturbed, as if guarded by the Night’s Watch themselves. Alas, another trial awaited us. The shared kitchen had been claimed entirely by those who preceded us—whose provisions and flagons left not a single corner in the larder for our humble fare. Thus, our hopes of feasting like lords dwindled, and we were forced to break our fast in the common room with little more than what we could carry from the markets of the city. A raven’s scroll of house rules was clear and fair. However, the promise of the fabled “wifi” proved as illusory as a maegi’s prophecy; none of my cleverest devices could summon its magic. Yet, let it not be said that the treasures of The Meley’s Crimson Keep come at a king’s ransom-the purse was spared the sting of regret. Valar Morghulis! may the next road lead to quieter harbors.

The photos of the room did not depict the actual layout. The photo on hotels.com showed the bathroom entry was inside the room and it was not. It was outside through another locked door. The kitchen also had trash that wasn’t taken out or cleaned regularly and had a smell, mostly from the dishes not being washed by other tenants. Recommend having someone other than tenants clean the common areas.

Was a little concerned to stay here because I saw some bad reviews but I stayed at this property for 5 nights and as a young solo female traveler I felt completely safe here and would love to stay here again when I come back to Seattle! It’s a cute little property with everything I needed, the other guests were quiet and respectful as well. It’s in a great location with many restaurants and bars nearby and even a grocery store which was very convenient. Host was extremely communicative and let me check in early since my flight arrived sooner than expected, overall I had a great experience and I recommend staying here! Very clean and lovely neighborhood as well :)

Clean Great location

Tiny room. Bathrooms not only separate but require a key code different than the front door and room (3 different codes). IDK about you, but if I get up to pee in the middle of the night, I am not going to have my phone or remember a code. In room fridge was dead and destroyed my food. Felt extremely uncomfortable. Also, in what way is Game of Thrones decor combined with white everything welcoming or comfortable? Not for me, maybe for you. Won't stay there again, personally. YMMV.

Pros: 1. Clean 2. In a great neighborhood 3. Felt pretty safe Cons: 1. Your bathroom IS NOT connected to your bedroom as shown in the photo 2. Street parking can be tough to find, but doable for those who can parallel park 3. The walls are thin and people did not follow the quiet hours rule

DO NOT BOOK HERE. When walking to our unit, a woman staying here was outside and told us to be safe because the night prior someone was banging on her door in the middle of the night for 20 minutes and she called the cops. We then walked into our unit and was about to type the code into our outside bathroom when someone opened the door to our bedroom and then shut it quickly. After walking downstairs, the person left our room on the 2nd floor, walked up to the 3rd floor and went into a different unit. After calling management, she said she would look into it and that housekeeping was not there. At this point we did not feel safe and left the apartment complex and waited in our vehicle. We ended up booking a different place that night since she said they would look at the security cameras and contact us the next day and talk about a refund after I told her we did not feel safe. After the multiple back and forth attempts to contact that night and into the next day, we ended up not getting any kind of refund for the 2 nights we booked. They have a strict non refundable policy and claimed the security cameras did not show anything even though we did not personally see cameras in the hallway where we were at to show proof. They offered a change of code to the door the next day after we already had booked and stayed at a different hotel. Long story short, they will not back you up if you don’t feel safe. They just want their money.

Very clean & well kept property. Parking is a huge challenge to find but owners were upfront about that in the information given. Noise level is quite high, could hear every step and conversation from the room above me all night long.
