Palazzo Vecchio Taormina

I was in Taormina in 1999. I thought it was a very cool place. This is not what I remembered, as it was much quieter then, but it is still such an amazing spot. When I looked for places to stay, this looked good online. It was not just good, it was fantastic. This is a small hotel. There are a limited number of rooms, I believe 12. When you walk in the door, they know your name. Salvatore in particular, who was at the front desk many of the evenings I was at the hotel made some great recommendations for restaurants. I wish I knew the guy that was there in the morning, but he helped me figure out some of things I wanted to do. Rooms were tidy and there was turndown service. I only ate dinner at the hotel one night, but the restaurant is fantastic. The breakfast at the hotel is one of the better that I have had. There is a small spread, but it's serve to order, and the dishes are unique and delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The views from the place are fantastic, if only it didn't rain so much when I was there. But I can't hold Palazzio Vecchio to that!!

Great experience other than the fact that the shower flooded in our room the 1st day , ultimately they moved us and the front desk staff, Miriam , Claudio and Antonio were very understanding and did all they could to make things right. The staff here is exceptional and totally invested in their guests. Eviana and Andrea in the dining room were very helpful even opening early our last day so we could have breakfast prior to an early departure. The rooftop bar is unbelievable , great view and Anna, Sebastian, Samuelo and Dominica could not have been more friendly, great to talk to and make recommendations to us. Antonio the concierge was very helpful with dinner reservations in Taormina and is an absolute gentleman. The first room we stayed in was small and a bit dated but once we moved it was great but to be sure it’s the staff that makes this hotel great and we hope the management is aware of this .

The staff was exceptional. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The hotel is gorgeous and our suite had a stunning view of the Ionian Sea. The mattress was wonderfully comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. I loved seeing Andrea every morning. However, I would skip the restaurant, it was disappointing. There are many other great restaurants in Taormina. I highly recommend the Palazzo Vecchio.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, they waited for us to be picked up from the last point before the pedestrian area, and showed us the hotel's amenities, without being aggressive about it - very much appreciated for the discrete but helpful style.

Nothing to do with the hotel, but the fact that we only stayed for one night meant we did not get to do much, and it seemed that the one pedestrian street filled with stores and restaurants was the only thing we were able to do - but this must be on us because we did not allocate much time to it- was only a discovery visit per se.

This hotel far exceeded my expectations. The location is in the heart of Taormina. The hotel is near the duomo, but set slightly off the Corso Umberto, so it’s quiet. The lounge and the dining room look like they’re from a Merchant Ivory film set. The roof top bar is a must, with the best views of sea and city. All staff members are extremely professional, friendly and very attentive. Miriam, Andrea, Francesco, and Nick are great. Made to order breakfast included a varied menu and was delicious.

Truly, a five star experience. It was better than we hoped for. It is right in the middle of all the action but, miraculously, peaceful inside. We had one of the greatest breakfast experiences of all time. The staff was so kind and helpful. The desk was always well staffed and people were eager to help. It’s in a pedestrian only area, but the bell captain waited for our car and took our luggage up to the hotel. We were impressed with our large room, modern bathroom, and the very comfortable bed. Good climate control. I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else in Taramina.

The location is truly ideal, with easy access to key landmarks, dining, and shopping areas, making it convenient for exploring the surrounding area. The rooms are not only spacious but thoughtfully designed, offering plenty of comfort and style, perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure. The staff here goes above and beyond—extremely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. The breakfast is exceptional, featuring a diverse selection of fresh and high-quality options that cater to all tastes, a perfect start to your day.

To reach the hotel from the main street, guests should be aware that there are a few stairs leading up to the street where the hotel is located. This means that while the hotel is conveniently close to the main thoroughfare, some moderate physical effort is required to climb these stairs.

The property is absolutely beautiful. It is located on the main road through the village but on the up side / slope so not right on the road. That also means it’s quiet and has beautiful views of the church and the sea beyond. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The breakfast / dining room is also beautiful.

There isn’t anything to not like. If you’re on the 4th floor you will hear the music from the bar directly above but it does not go late. Also, ask them to put tape over the red flashing lights of their smoke detectors. They’re very bright!
