Hotel Pai

This hotel has been reviewed by a number of people, but having now experienced the place myself I thought I would add a few things that haven't been mentioned already. Getting there I checked before arriving that there was a bus to the hotel from the main train station at the southern end of the lake. I hadn't realised that my arrival time (just after 9pm) would mean no buses travelling to the hotel, which is half way up the lake. Please note, getting a taxi there is VERY expensive, and cost me 65 euros. There are hourly buses during the day which are under 5 euros each way so best to time your arrival a bit earlier than mine! There is a nearby ferry crossing to the other side of the lake in Torri which you can drive or cycle to. Walking there is a bit of a push. There is a once per morning ferry if you don't fancy this but if you miss it you will have to get a boat elsewhere if you want to tour the lake by this method of transport. The bus is a fair bit cheaper as you can get an all day ticket for 10 euros. I would recommend getting the all week ticket for 40 euros, it is good value as it even enables you to travel to nearby Verona. The hotel I was in a single room which overlooked the lake. Yes, you get a title bit of traffic noise but the trade off is worth it for the beautiful view. Although its not rated as a 5* hotel it was nicely fitted out with everything you could want, including a hair dryer (handy) Location The hotel is half way up the east side of the lake. This is useful in terms of a base as you don't have too far to visit any of the sites. You can either get a bus north or south, or take the ferry to the other side of the lake at Torri. It was very handy to have the inclusive bike hire as I could then explore the local area more easily. Value for money I booked the package through Travelbird and thought as a single traveller this was very good value for money given that I was travelling in June.

A charming hotel by the lake. Cozy, clean, unpretentious, and well-maintained. We arrived there following a significant problem at another hotel (Orione) and the lady in charge of reception could not have been more charming. She tried to accommodate us the best she could despite a very busy hotel, showed us what was available, examined the various possibilities should we wish to stay longer, and when we took the room and said that we wanted to have some lunch, came personally to ensure that the restaurant terrace staff (who were actually both competent and charming themselves!) took the best care of us. The terrace is in fact what made us try this hotel in the first place as we drove by.It is simply lovely, calm and directly on the water. The chef likes to specialise in fish (both from the lake and from the sea) and does it quite well. A decent breakfast was included and again you can take it by the lake rather than in the (average) dining room. Rooms are pretty, ours had a wonderful terrace with panoramic lake views and another balcony on the side with French windows and side views of the lake. An excellent choice at reasonable prices.

Our room and bath were very simple but adequate. The hotel restaurant had tables inside and also across the busy street outside along the waterfront. The food was delicious and the view was beautiful especially the sunset during the evening meal. Luisa and Cristina were wonderful hostesses and made our stay very special.

brilliant staff!! Louisa and Cosimo could not do enough for our group, we had a wonderful trip! food interesting local dishes from north Italy, we enjoyed the ravioli ,cotoletta and panna cotta!! polenta is not my thing I must admit !! otherwise a very enjoyable stay in beautiful panoramic views of lake Garda.....thank you one and all and congratulations to Sig Thurner on choosing wonderful staff icluding the housekeeper who kept our bedrooms clean!!a la prossimma!! Well -shall I start with Louisa or Mimo! Wonderful professional and friendly people. This was truly a lovely experience. Location on lake Garda and a room with a view. 2 hours from Venice, excellent value and a welcome that was second to none. Even when we got delayed while sipping bellini s at Harry's bar in Venice and we called to explain that we would be late for dinner and were told "venite a case -come home" great value for money, excellent staff -Anne wants to bring Mimo to Ireland, and great food -THANK YOU LOUISA AND MIMO

We had a very enjoyable stay except for the perfume smell in the room, which did not seem to go away! Very good breakfasts, the restaurant connected to the hotel which is across the street on the lake had very good food. We had two dinners there and they were both very good. Louisa was a delight and could not do enough for you and the other wait staff were also very engaging and helpful. It was somewhat interesting to watch the staff go back and forth across the street with drinks on trays etc. Beautiful scene at night on the lake! You do need a car though to get from here to any of the towns.

Basic room but value for money. Couldn't fault the breakfast or the service received. The food was outstanding in the restaurant with service to match - would definitely visit again. Wonderful Views & set in a great location.

Sitting by the lake a hot summer evening with a cold drink in one hand and your girl in the other, watching the sun go down behind the mountains across the lake. Food on the table, and ducks with ducklings swimming around begging for bread... These are the scenarios of this hotel... A lovely place with free parking and one of the best breakfast on our trip in northern Italy. And the best part... They played spiritual and romantic songs of ELVIS at breakfast. Just Perfect :-) Rooms were clean, had a safe and a balcony with lakeview. And there are a small Beach a few meters from the hotel. Very recomendable!!!
