Captains Walk - 4 Bedroom Apartment - Saundersfoot

This property was filthy on arrival. Please do not think about booking it as it is vastly overpriced.

Apartment dirty. Patio full of weeds and moss/black sports, would have expected patio furniture to be better rather than rusty old chairs, rusty chimney, cheap rusty barbecue. Cover strewn in corner … not attractive. On complaining 2 people were sent round. One came with bin bag and gloves to clear patio when I clearly requested someone to come with the necessary equipment! Said he would book a jet wash .. never heard back. The other person came with cleaning materials and offered to mop bedroom floor … no furniture was moved just a general clean. Dust/rubbish left under chairs. Clearly our complaint was not heard so we gave up as we were having a short break following a tragic family death and did not have the strength. 2 out of 3 toilet seats broken, only 1 bathroom door lock worked, kitchen greasy, dirty glasses/plates in cupboard, blood on one pillowcase, the list is endless. Blocked drain outside kitchen window, giving pungent smell inside. Generally a grubby place. Overlooked by hotel next door … people leaning over railings staring straight at us so no privacy. Definitely not worth the money … not recommended.

Amazing view!!!! We spent time on the terrace whenever possible. BBQs were lovely at night. A whole different atmosphere again. 5 minutes from the beach. 2 lovely walks. 1 - Wiseman’s Bridge through the tunnels and a pub for a pit stop. 2 - up the hill out of the hotel car park and first left onto The Glen takes you to the coastal path/woods and then onto the beach (if the tide is out). Great pubs and restaurants in Saundersfoot, all 5 minutes away. Would highly recommend The Royal Oak. Make bookings in advance of your stay.

If the fabric of the building had a bit of TLC this property would be even better. Some decoration needed, attention to fixtures and fittings (toilet seats/windows/locks), the bed on the lounge level was uncomfortable and creaked loudly every time we moved, the path/roof out from the top front door was waterlogged and lifting (didn’t use as dangerous), the step out to the terrace from the double bedroom without the en-suite is at the wrong side (again dangerous), nowhere to hang coats in hall, bunk beds noisy and creaky (kids preferred to sleep on sofas), patio needed weeding, kitchen is full of oddments of crockery (a set of 8 of everything would be far better), bigger pans/pots needed for cooking for 8 people and a larger fridge (anything at the back of it freezes too). Small bedside tables needed where nowhere to put a coffee. Lovely thick towels but they don’t dry indoors and hooks on back of shower room door need to be bigger, as picked up towels off the floor all week! No hot water one morning so ensure you use the boost after lots of showers at night. Also hot water in shower room takes an age to come through. No designated parking and spaces were tight when we did get parked. All meant as constructive feedback to fine tune this place as we had a fantastic stay. Hosts were consistently responsive too.

Views out the lounge window and bottom back bedrooms were sensational. The owner left plenty of indoor and beach games which was a pleasant and thoughtful touch .

I phoned up before the stay to confirm there was a high chair present and was told there was. However , there was not. I called Saturday and was told they would see if they could drop one in however they did not and did not call to let me know they could not as indicated .
