Beautiful town centre apartment with river terrace

Not very comfortable at all It is someone's home so felt a little like we were imposing Couldn't get heating to work, lucky found a little plug in for warmth.

Bad parking but everything great with host and premises. Very nice chap and apartment was gorgeous and comfortable.

Where do I start? This was such a special place and I really enjoyed my time there. The space is used so well and has a very relaxing vibe. Loved the owners choice of decor and all the quirky objects dotted around. Both the kitchen and bathroom are great and the bed was so comfy, so much so that I had trouble getting up in the morning! Thanks so much for allowing me to stay there I had a lovely time..

I have been putting off writing this review, because I know from dealing with the host that whatever I write here, he's going to be vicious in his attack and not take on board any of my valid complaints. The main point I want to make is that we didn't actually stay in this property, after visiting it we decided to cut our losses and go home. Which is a shame, because a quick walk round the centre of Macclesfield and it actually looked lovely. Firstly this apartment does not have a private terrace - regardless of how he spins it - he sent me these specific instructions for our stay: "**Please note: if you are bringing a dog, please do not allow him/her to have free rein around the shared terrace - the neighbours, who have children, have been upset by dogs toileting on their area. Many thanks.**'" The reason we didn't stay in the apartment is because the strong smell of damp when we first entered the apartment was so off-putting that we didn't even want to sleep there. I raised this with the host and was told it was apparently a reed diffuser... Although other correspondence from the host stated: "'If you could leave the bathroom door open after bathing/showering that would be really helpful in order to prevent any damp.'" But apparently the apartment doesn't suffer with damp either...I must've just been making it up! The photos of these apartment are extremely flattering, the entire apartment has one window, nothing in the bathroom, bedroom or kitchen. Just one small window by the front door. There also isn't a separate bedroom, the 'spacious' living room is separated from the bedroom by a bookcase. The place felt dark, dingy and cluttered. I also feel it was overpriced and oversold.
