LABE Hôtel Tours Centre Gare

The staff at the Labe Hotel was wonderful. Recommended things to do and places to eat. Called cabs for us and greeted us as we came and went. So helpful, would stay there again.

Finding this boutique hotel in Tours was a pleasant surprise. I've stayed twice and put it at the top of my list for a future stay. Pluses include the welcoming staff, the design --you're not in a chain hotel, clearly lots of thought went into bringing an older hotel into the 21st century-- the comfortable bedding, having a desk and a chair and good lighting, modern and comfortable bathroom, a terrific breakfast with lots of choice and quality products, and easy access to the train station in Tours. Two quirks deserve mention. Rooms are various sizes, not uniform; so you should keep that in mind when reserving. And at least on one floor there are some steps from the elevator to the hallway; for me a charming quirk but potentially a challenge for people with mobility issues, so maybe ask too when reserving.

As others have noted, the style of decor inside is quirky and appealing. I also agree that the bed is very comfortable. My room definitely wasn’t spacious though. There really wasn’t an obvious place to put the stand with an open suitcase on it, so it was always in the way. My biggest issues were as follows: 1. One of the reasons I booked the property is specifically because the listing said it has air conditioning. It does, but it isn’t activated unless it’s the warm season. It appears that situation is not exclusive to this property, so I can’t really fault them individually for that, but it would be nice if this was mentioned online. However, when I first opened the door to the room it was like a sauna. No one could have stayed there without airing it out. So, of course that meant opening the window. If you wanted continued air circulation, the window had to stay open. That might have been okay if my room didn’t face a side street that was more like an alley and had a lot of noise from pedestrians and vehicles, which made it difficult to sleep. Once I was awoken by someone going through trash bins and loudly banging the lids. The other concern was that I was on the 1st floor, so I felt a bit uncomfortable with my window open and being relatively close to the street. This brings me to my biggest issue… 2. I felt unsafe. In addition to the open window, my room was in a wing behind a closed door. That means you exited the elevator (or stairs) into a common landing, but then had to go through a door that closed behind you and separated you from the common areas. If a guest from that section had a problem and yelled, I don’t think they would be heard by anyone beyond that door. So, at least I could close that additional bolt/chain that would keep the door to my room closed if someone tried to enter. Except, there wasn’t one. All of these things together meant that I—traveling solo—was uneasy for the entirety of my entire stay. Little things to be aware of: *Toilet is separate from shower, in a closet next to bed. The wall literally touches mattress by the head of the bed on one side. Sounds? Hmm *No washcloths To end on some positives, the shower was the nicest part of the room. There is a small safe in the closet. There is a bar in the lobby. The gentleman on duty when I arrived and left was Stan and he was friendly and helpful; very customer service oriented; spoke English fluently. Hotel was extremely convenient to train station. Literally across the street. I’m torn between a rating of 3 or 4, but since all other reviews are 5 and I’m evidently an outlier, I’ll go with 4. I seriously urge the property to install chains or bolts to doors, at least for rooms behind secondary closed doors. And clarify timing of air conditioning operation.

L'hôtel est une petite merveille de créativité en terme de décor, l'accueil est très chaleureux, le personnel au petits soins. J'ai particulièrement apprécié les instruments de musique mis à disposition des clients, c'est juste génial !

My wife and I spent two pleasant nights at the LABE. Tours is a fairly large city, but the hotel is only steps for the train station and a few blocks (less than 1 mile) from the main business district. The exterior of the hotel is unremarkable, but the interior has a unique, very modern decor, as the Trip Advisor photos show. We stayed in a standard suite - very roomy and comfortable. The suite has a sitting area (desk, chair and minibar) separated from the bed, but there is open shelving between the two areas, so the sitting and sleeping areas are not closed off from each other. We had a breakfast-included package. The breakfast was okay, but we have had better. The staff we met were attentive, friendly and helpful. Overall, we were very pleased with the LABE and would heartily recommend it.

The hotel is very conveniently located, in the nearest vicinity of the railway station, not far away from the centre of the city and its attractions. Friendly and accommodating reception / bar staff. Room was quiet and the bedding extremely comfortable for a quality sleep. I spent there two nights on business (and will gladly return, if an opportunity arises).

Exceed my expectation. Very good hotel with design, friendly staff
