Had a great time staying at Sophia Urban Suites. The location was convenient, close to a small mall and food hall (mercado bom successo, which I'd recommend visiting for lots of various portuguese food vendors in a cute modern space). I enjoy walking through a city vs driving/bussing, so I got my (20-25min) hike daily going down into the city center, but I didnt mind. Ubers were also only about a 15 min ride (costing less than 8 euros!). The property was very clean and super quiet! You share a hallway/chapter with guests either below or above you but I never saw the neighbors (or any other guests the whole duration of my 4 night stay). The best part of Sophia was Lurdes, the property manager! She is the most kind, welcoming, gracious and helpful host and was able to accomodate us for an earlier earrival (by 1 hour) and also recommend so many places for us to visit/try in the city. I'd recommend/stay here again if ever in Porto!

Lurdes was wonderful and very accommodating of our last minute delay due to train services getting to Porto. The suite was modern, clean and the common space was very nice. The room itself was tiny- tight squeeze for 2 people and luggage. More suitable for one traveller. The wooden bed frame was very uncomfortable and left bruises on the back of our legs from trying to get in and out of bed. The room was very warm and we were unable to adjust the temperature. Made for uncomfortable sleeps. The desk fan just blew around the hot air but was something thankfully, as there was no windows to open. The walk is close to the shopping centre, Crystal Palace Garden and restaurants. Bolt otherwise got us to the beaches about 15mins from the suite. Would recommend for a short stay.

"Well worth it "

Nice place. Good location and really good prices. I wasn't crazy about not being able to adjust the room temperature as it's set/fixed at a certain temperature. This sat between 24/25° during my week. That was alright but I personally would have liked it a little cooler. I really liked the place though and the location is really good.

"Avoid if you want a good night's rest."

4.0

We really wanted to like this place. We booked it because of the wonderful reviews it has, and our initial impressions were positive because the place seemed new with modern decor, and the manager Lurdes met with us with such warmth and was very helpful in every way. It is also not too far from the city center. The problem was the room itself. We booked it for 4 nights, and did not manage to get one decent night of sleep because it was so stuffy and warm the entire time even with the "AC" unit and a fan. We set the AC to 18 degrees, and it did not cool down at all- remained constantly between 24-25°c. And this is a very small room... There was no way of getting any outside air so we had to leave both the AC and the fan on whenever we were in the room. We contacted the management about this the first night to see if anything could be done, no response. Another ridiculous thing about the room is the wooden Murphy bed frame, which encloses the entire mattress and protrudes above the mattress. It should have been higher than the frame. Needless to say, it was so hard to get in and out of bed without hurting ourselves, and we couldn't really sit on the edge of the bed, not to mention constantly waking up from bumping into the bed frame at night. To make things worse, the mattress itself is of such poor quality- hard and caves in a bit in the center. We left after 4 sleepless nights and with quite a few bruises. We simply cannot recommend.
