Our stay was absolutely amazing! The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of everything, making it incredibly convenient for exploring. The property itself is charming, with the unique character and ambiance of a vintage pharmacy that adds so much personality to the experience. Added benefits were an elevator, a rooftop with incredible views, and nice hot shower. Juan at the front desk was exceptional—so helpful, friendly, and full of fantastic dinner recommendations. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

This is an excellently located property, So perfect for a visit to the Coimbra University which is just up the very steep street. We loved this historical hotel. All check in is done virtually so please, read the instructions they send you before arrival all the information is there and it is simple and accurate. They give you a code both for the front door and for your room. The room looked onto the beatiful main street, and walking around town was very easy. climbing to the University can be challenging but so worth it and the center of town is just steps from the hotel. Take advantage of the one-hour city tour 'train' that starts on the center square of the University.

We found this small hotel to be extremely charming, comfortable and perfectly located in downtown Coimbra. Our third-floor room (Cidreira) was clean and spacious, with sound-dampening panels on the shutters to minimize street noise. The antique pharmacy that served as the lobby was a very charming spot to enjoy the complimentary coffee, tea, fruit and muffins. Since the hotel is largely self-service, we could arrive and depart when it suited us, and we availed ourselves of their convenient luggage storage after checkout. While the lobby isn't constantly staffed, we met two staff members during our visit and both were very pleasant and helpful. We would definitely stay there again if we return to Coimbra.

This was a fantastic find. The property is very unique and memorable with the old pharmacy decor. It is very well located in the old town on the pedestrian street (you do have a short walk with luggage to get to the location). The room was relatively spacious for a European hotel room and very comfortable. I was concerned about noise from the pedestrian street but the shutters were sound proofed and we had no issue with noise. I would encourage any tourist to Coimbra to look at this property for a stay. Coffee, small muffins and apples were available. Although the guest house operates primarily through guests receiving and using codes to the front door and bedrooms, and so we didn’t have a lot of contact with staff, the staff we did meet were very friendly and helpful with recommendations for dining and tourist sites.

Great stay , hotel is well positioned and charming

spread over 4 floors with lift and sun terrace (accessed by stairs) this hotel overlooks the busy street. also an outside courtyard on floor 2 . generous room well appointed bathroom . aircon. tea, coffee, cake and fridge all together in lobby. beside the beautiful entrance remaining from the original pharmacy with ran until 2016. a real find in centre of old town. self entry using codes, no staff

Upon our arrival, our experience was completely unacceptable. We waited hours to get into our room only to discover a wet floor dripping from the ceiling over the toilet (surely they knew but gave us the room anyhow). We alerted staff and then waited a long time to find out we could not be accommodated with a functional clean room. We were told they'd take care of us however, to no avail. We were told a hotel 800 meters away could not accommodate us but decided to call directly and they took our reservation. We felt we were lied to. We booked Pharmacy Guest House due to its 9.6 "Exceptional" review. The toxic odor in the common area toilet mode us nauseous, the amenities sparse and based on the rating program, perhaps Expedia needs to be reevaluated. All in all, it was a terrible experience and because of such, we were late for pre-purchased tickets to an area attraction we had expressly come to Coimbra to visit. We left the property and made other arrangements on the fly.
