Sublime Comporta Country Retreat & SPA

Beautiful

Long post. Just spent two nights at this place, and although it is very nice resort overall, I don’t think I’d go back for what it is. Firstly, you should understand that it’s like a nature wellness retreat type resort, very much secluded and in the middle of no where. It’s about a 15 minute drive to the beach club, (they provide a shuttle) and about a 25-minute drive to the cute little town of Comporta. So it’s quite isolated, and you really need a car there if you want to explore around the area. The resort itself is very nice, beautiful reception and lobby area, but my main beef with this place are the rooms. We had a Cabana room for 900€ a night. It was VERY small compared to many other resort rooms we’ve stayed at. Basically a king bed, and a little perimeter of space to walk around it with a desk behind it. It felt quite cramped. Not very good value for 900€. Also the TV was quite small, attached to the wall, but the reception of the TV cable was poor, and kept turning off intermittently saying “weak signal”. It was very annoying. The bathroom is actually quite large in comparison to the room, and well equipped, with heated floors which was nice. There is also a small patio off the back of the room with two chairs, but it wasn’t very comfortable to sit out there, and it’s not very scenic, you’re basically looking out at some trees and other cabanas. The other main problem with the room is that the geniuses who designed it, placed a metal door stopper on the floor, just inches in front of the first closet, so my husband stubbed his toe very hard, was in dire agony but luckily didn’t break his toe. We then had to keep a towel on the floor to cover the door stopper so it wouldn’t happen again. The breakfast buffet is good, with the usual selections and you could get eggs to order off the menu. But as described in a previous post, the service in the restaurant is weak at best. The servers seem to be hovering around doing a variety of things, but not actually attentive to the guests. When we sat down it took over 5 minutes for someone to come over and take our coffee order. Then another 6+ minutes to actually get the cappuccino which was luke warm by that point. The severs just seem a little lost and bewildered and aren’t actually catering to the needs of the guests, I kept having to flag someone over to get anything I needed. The property itself is very lovely and peaceful and in touch with nature. It has a very earthy and minimalist decor. It’s sprawling over 40 acres, so I was a bit surprised that they didn’t have any actual walking paths, as my husband and I wanted to go on a long walk one morning, so we just landed up walking around the property. The ‘roads’ on the property are made of little pebbles and sand, so at times it got a bit dusty. We did not eat dinners on the property, it seemed very pricey and formal to me, so we drove into Comporta for some amazing dinners. The beach Club is very lovely, and the restaurant there is beautiful, and also though quite expensive it was very good. Another annoyance was that when driving to the Beach Club in your own car, the parking lot in front charges 4.50€ to get in to park your car! You would think that such a high-end resort like the Sublime would provide some voucher to cover the cost of that parking fee, it just felt cheap on their part. Overall, we had a nice two days at the Sublime , but I don’t think it was worth 900€ a night, the value is poor for what you’re actually getting.

Hotel muito gostoso, só precisa definir sua vocação melhor !! Se pretende estar na referência da alta hotelaria, como Four Seasons , ou se estão focando em ser um hotel de rede como Hyatt e Hilton ! Para esse último estão no caminho, mas pretendem se pretendem seguir um Four Seasons , precisam rever alguns conceitos , como acolhimento , amenites e principalmente não fechar seu único espaço de praia ( Beach Club ) para evento privado , sem previamente comunicar ou ter opções para os demais hóspedes !! Nos momentos de dúvidas um gerente deve procurar o hóspede e se prontificar a resolver o problema e não como foi me dito : “ se quiseres podes procurar nosso manager” Ou seja … Muito Bom ( acomodações / espaço esterno / refeições ) mas podia - basta querer - Ser sensacional !!

Clearly among the best places to stay in Comporta. Sublime has created a truly tranquil experience (not only a hotel) nested within nature. Beach is nearby and can be reached by car within 10 min or the complementary shuttle.

A fantastic hotel in the countryside, surrounded by beautiful views of a forest of trees, however also close to a magnificent beach.. Best of both worlds!
