Very bad

This is a hotel far from the city center, run by Bangladeshis and Indians. I was cheated and had a very poor stay. First, I needed to stay in Lisbon for two days. After booking one night through Booking.com, the hotel staff told me via WhatsApp that I could pay for the next day directly at the hotel front desk and that they had reserved a bed for me. However, when I arrived at the hotel, the Bangladeshi staff told me there were no beds available. This caused me a lot of trouble because I could have booked other hotels earlier, but it was already evening and they were all full. Second, the hotel kitchen reeked of Indian curry. When I was preparing to cook, the Bangladeshi staff left a pot of curry in the kitchen, seemingly to eat or for some other reason, and wouldn't allow guests to cook. If the hotel has its own rules, such as Bangladeshi and Indian staff being extremely important and needing priority in using the kitchen, or a time limit for staff kitchen use, please include these in the Booking.com description. Third, the Bangladeshi and Indian staff were extremely noisy. Three staff members were chatting loudly at the front desk on the first floor. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. This isn't Lisbon, the capital of Portugal; it feels more like India.

"We enjoyed our stay, we appreciated the cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff."

9.0

The hostel was a pleasant surprise. It is run by a team of young guys who do a great job keeping everything organized and welcoming. The rooms and bathrooms were cleaned daily and were always well maintained. The kitchen stove is turned off from 9:00 PM until 11:00 AM, but that wasn't a problem for us since we could still prepare simple snacks and breakfast. It pleased me to see that every night, one of those young men was putting away the washed kitchen utensils from the drying rack into the original place. The common areas include a small library, a TV, and a cozy sofa. Outside, there are a few tables and chairs where guests can relax and enjoy the fresh air. Although the street is small, it is surprisingly lively. The staff was always friendly, helpful, and willing to assist with anything we needed. The designated beds feature a duvet, a fan, a reading lamp, and multiple power outlets, as well as a curtain that provides privacy. The location is excellent, with a subway station, shopping mall, restaurants, museums, and a supermarket all within walking distance. It is also conveniently located about 15 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the Sete Rios bus and train station.

I paid an additional fee to rent a bath towel (€3) and use the laundry facilities (€8). The prices were acceptable, though they could have been a little lower. In particular, the washing machine was the more expensive of the two services (€5). It would have felt fairer if the washer and dryer had been priced the same (€3). Overall, I really have no complaints about our stay. One thing to you to keep in mind is that the hostel is located on a steep hill (in the half a block) and requires climbing quite a few stairs (inside), something that's fairly common in many parts of Portugal.
