OYO Hotel I-20 Decatur, East Atlanta

The couple that own it are nice and I could tell they are good people. I was having some serious personal issues which led to the necessity of my short tenure there and they let me stay even though I ended up being ten dollars short.

If you aren't familiar with this neighborhood, it is not a very "family friendly" environment. There are homeless encampment completely surrounding this little area of town. Socioeconomic and hard drugs are symbiotic. To put it lightly for about 600 yards in every direction it's one of the wildest open air drug markets I've encountered in my 50 years on this planet and I'm a former junkie/crackhead who laughed at Charlie sheets numbers on his daily intake. The guy in the room next to me was literally waving a loaded pistol in his girlfriend's face with her children in close proximity behind her. Drug dealers idling nearby in their tricked out rides all hours of the night with their loud systems cranking out some decibels. Unfortunately for the nice couple at the desk, the business they bought is predisposed to that element and there's really not too much that could be done unless you bought all the motels nearby, renovated them and jacked the price up to unobtainable levels that the crackheads can't afford and the economic footprint geographically speaking just can't support that. I was bitten by a spider or something that has my ear swollen and sore and the sanitary conditions of the room I had weren't great. Once again, the nice couple who own the place are smart to not spend a lot trying to battle it because it'd be more fun to light thousands of dollars on fire

I felt extremely unsafe on the property and the room was not clean and the queen bed came with 1 pillow and 1 towel/washcloth even though I booked with 2 adults. We stayed in the room roughly 10 minutes and then left and went to another hotel.

They charged me when I booked 56 dollars then wh r I went check in told me it was canceled which it was not and charged another 80 . I spent time on the phone with customer service and got so mad I just left after 2 hours . Booking.com is great and can see I never canceled and they don't know why oyo charged again . While I was still speaking to the agent that day. I have the emails every thing is ready all the way through the day and they charged me 80 then a couple days later th r charge 66 for canceling bi never canceled. Booking.com could see and Teel me that but the oyo wanted more money so the charged 80 th r n canceled because I reported them after fact . Its all documented . I'm still out $ 146 for this room and had to work all week but am not giving up .

People hanging out the parking lot and ask me if I wanted drugs. Place was filthy , and police was there ,overall bad experience.
