Hotel Ankaa - Adults Only

I went to this hotel for a weekend with my wife, and we absolutely loved the place. Perfect for couples! Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and food that exceeded expectations. We had an amazing stay, enjoyed every moment, and I 100% recommend this place for a perfect getaway!

I had a very relaxing stay. The hotel is very clean and nicely decorated. It’s pool area is beautiful, and it has most amenities one would want. Most reviews will highlight the breakfast that is included in your stay, and it was good. However, I would say that the excellent, friendly, and warm customer service by ALL staff is this hotel’s best quality: front desk, cleaners, servers, maintenance. ALL. I would like to mention and thank: Stefan, Silvia, Vero, and Fadoua.

Das Hotel liegt nah am Hafen von Portocristo. Leider jedoch auch an einer stark befahrenen Straße, weshalb es zwischenzeitlich etwas lauter war. Die Zimmer scheinen vor einiger Zeit renoviert worden zu sein und wirken modern. Allerdings fallen auf den zweiten Blick einige Dinge, wie z.B abplatzende Farbe, Farbe auf Holz auf. Das Frühstück war sehr gut. Es gab eine große Auswahl, so dass für jeden etwas dabei war. Das Buffet am Abend war ebenfalls sehr lecker. Etwas kleiner als das Frühstücksbuffet, jedoch wurde das Fleisch frisch gebraten. Unser Highlight war das Personal. Alle waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Wir haben uns sehr willkommen und wohl gefühlt und würden das Hotel an Familie und Freunde weiterempfehlen. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis passt. Großes Frühstücksbuffet. Kommen gerne wieder. :-)

Das allerbeste war das Personal, das jederzeit verfügbar war und alles dafür getan hat, einen best möglichen Aufenthalt zu gestalten. Auch bei Krankheit wird sich sehr zuvorkommend gekümmert und geholfen, wo es nur geht. Vielen Dank !

Reviewing this hotel is quite difficult because the staff are all friendly and it does have some good points. Locally it is known as Fawtly Towers (by the taxi drivers ) and unfortunately it’s not difficult to understand why, however let’s start with the positives; firstly the hotel manager, he is a lovely smiley chap and he has a very high level of visibility on the shop floor and that helps the hotel have a relaxed vibe to it. I can also say the bath towels are soft, the beds are comfy , you get a kettle and the hotel supplies pool towels at no extra cost. The breakfast is also ok and the gym is basic but pleasant. In truth though, it’s a very old old hotel that has had a cheap lick of white paint and bit of a refurb including astroturf around the pool. Whilst the bedrooms are relatively comfy (ours overlooked the main road) they do remind me of the rooms in an old style travel lodge and the bathrooms are awful. The outside of the hotel also lacks any kerb appeal and it looks like an old block of council flats. The cleaners do an excellent job tidying the rooms every day and as I’ve said bathrooms are the worst feature , the plumbing smells , the bathrooms are small and the shower is barely fit for purpose. On another positive note the repair/maintenance man is great ( he definitely works hard) - he fixed the safe, the shampoo dispenser and even gave us a new plug for the bathroom sink , he was last seen dealing with some leaky aircon in the hotel lobby . In summary, would I stay again ? no, was it expensive accommodation ? yes , is it 4 star ? definitely not (3 star at best). Fawlty Towers is probably a bit harsh as it did slowly grow on me but I can understand why it’s called Fawlty Towers.
