SH Colon Valencia Hotel

This is a cheap hotel so if you book hoping for something nice you'll be disappointed. My advice: 1. If you really want to stay here, don't book in advance, or ensure you book with option to cancel and check prices closer to date. 2. If you wonder why room descriptions are not clear, I think it's on purpose 3. if you get a city view room on level two and there is still availability, I would immediately complain. We chose this hotel based on location, which suited us, but if you are wondering why it's so expensive then trust your gut, it's not worth it. We booked a city view for a weekend in early August (high season) four months in advance and they charged us a rate 70% higher than they were charging for the same rooms during our stay. To add insult to injury they then gave use the worst cityview room on level 2 furthest from the centre. It's like they try to give the worst experience! Not only were they reluctant to change the room or offer an upgrade even though a suite was being sold for 50€ less a night, they were combative despite my calm explanation that surely they could offer better. I observed another couple also got a room change after seeing the tiny room they first got. I suspect all the sh hotels are cartel like because all their prices were much higher months in advance than closer to that weekend in August. I also suspect bad management and training in every facet of this hotel so maybe it's a final money grab. I'll repeat my advice: 1. Book a room you can cancel, check the prices closer to the date. 2. level two is not Cityview and some city view have king beds with wide opening windows. Also, I suspect not all Deluxe rooms have views. 3. look out for broken things such as: Unfixed wall safes!, broken window handles, uncleaned aircon filters 4. I can't blame the hotel for this but the dodgy way they do parking allowed for the parking station to try to charge us an additional 22€. It was an obvious attempt to cheat us and I had receipts to prove it. 5. With broken security things and this behaviour you don't feel safe in the hotel. You'd think the hotel would help in this but no... you have to waste time to fix it yourself. Other signs they do not care about repeat business are 1. Not replying to emails before check-in. 2 not replying to an email I wrote during my stay to give them a chance to improve my experience and 3. The post visit survey is broken all over the place. Also the fitness room is 3 bikes and a set of barbells and breakfast just as careless. Worst hotel experience on a one month trip, I could have stayed nearby for half the price and I believe In a nicer hotel... and oh boy Valencia is the most surprisingly beautiful city.

Checked in with not the friendliest of hosts. Very weird room layout. I walked in to find my "bathroom sink" immediately to my right. The toilet was behind 1 door & a shower was behind a door opposite that. The entrance, which housed the sink, wardrobe area, toilet & shower could be seperated from the bed by a thick curtain if you wanted privacy. I had booked a double room, single use stay & requested a double bed as opposed to single beds. I got the 2 singles. There was complimentary nespresso & there were 2 bottles of still water on the counter top. There were more items in the minibar & a price list that listed the still water. When booking, the website said "free bottled water" I asked at reception what the deal was & was told, no charge for the water left out of the fridge. No more water was left out during my 5 night stay & when i questioned this, i was told that you only get the water once per stay! I think this is very bad policy. The room was not cheap & its little things like this that would put me off returning/recommending. The toiletries were nice & slippers are provided. The bed i found comfortable but the countertops had ringstains on them & the floors were dirty when i arrived. The location is good, v central & 5min walk from Xátiva Metro which is a direct 25min line to airport. The main train station is closeby also if you want to do a daytrip to Madrid. You can get a bus to the beach from carrer de colon. Overall i think it was overpriced for its services

Extremely central location, great shower and spotless condition. The bed was not the most comfortable and front desk seemed to lack a bit of experience but a dependable stay in any case. Fantastic air conditioning by the way.

The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a problem with the bathroom & the issue was solved by the time we came back to our room

Great hotel very close to the train station. Walking distance to most of the attractions. You can even walk to the city of art and science (about 30 minutes). Staff was very attentive and helpful. Lots of restaurants nearby.

Booked a 4 night city break with BA to this amazing city and stayed in this great hotel. Could not fault the facilities, breakfast buffet superb and the cleanlinessin in the hotel was first class. We requested a quiet room and that's exactly what we got and perfectly air conditioned in a very hot June. One word of praise and thanks for the staff on reception on the afternoon 17thJune. Unfortunately I became quite ill due to the extreme heat ironically outside the hotel. After 5 minutes struggling quite a bit, my daughter was able to summon the girls behind the desk. They were kind, brought a cold compress and sweets to help the shock, then helped me to my room. It was really appreciated and I thank you again. I also received a small gift and a note in the room next day saying that the hotel hoped all was now well. Thoughtful gesture. Centrally located, easy, flat walking distance of many sights and metro to airport on doorstep. No hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Sleek, modern hotel near the city night-life and Valencia Nord train station. 15min taxi from Joaquin station. It's perfect, quiet comfy sleep and moderately priced. Just book it!

Only a short stay, but clean, comfortable bed and very helpful staff. Great location near the centre of the old town and stations. Will definitely stay in SH hotels again
