"Disappointing."

The property itself was lovely, there was plenty of room for our group of eight to stay. In the lounge it was a struggle for us all to sit together though. In the kitchen there were extras such as cleaning products, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. This made the property feel homely. The garden was ok. Unfinished but ok. Despite my complaint below the home itself was lovely, improvements could be made but that stands for anywhere. The communication aspect and commotion is what would stop our group going back.

Complaint - Communication regarding our stay was absolutely outrageous. As expected when booking our stay I received confirmation via email and could also access the information on the booking.com app. Payment was then taken out of my bank on the 3rd July; an email reminder was sent regarding this. On the 26th July, I received a message requesting a £300 deposit for our stay. Which I sent across on the 27th July, all transactions can be seen in my bank account if required. As no other communication was provided, it was assumed that the deposit was received and we could arrive with no complications. Upon arriving, we did not know where a key pad was for the property. No information was provided for the pin or location of the key pad. For an hour we phoned the contacts provided and heard nothing back, I left voicemails and emails. By the time we heard anything back, we had found the key pad after speaking to people on the street and saying about the situation. The worker calling me had no manners or empathy, I explained the situation and was clearly distressed as our group did not live local. All he said back was that the deposit was not received, I expressed my disgust on how no communication regarding this was given but despite this I had paid it. Fortunately, the next door neighbour came out who is the actual owner of the property. After confirmation that I had actually paid she let us in and contacted booking.com. When getting in the property, knowing we paid £90 for a cleaning fee. It was not clean. Understandably there were fresh bedding and towels. But the property was damaged, the light as you enter had the shade hanging off, there’s marks on the floor and walls. The fridge has a light which flickers badly and for anyone with a medical condition triggered by flashing lights this would not have been ok. The dishwasher smelt foul, which we proceeded to leave open to get rid of the smell. There was cereal and milk spilt in a bedroom also.

Spacious, ideal for a family of 4 adults. The host thought of everything. I took my own tea towel and washing up liquid, didn’t need to, everything was there🙌

Just the TV, No aerial so just catchup tv. Apart from that our stay was over too soon.
