The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The rooftop bar was great. The bed was comfy.

We were in a basement room where the windows were overlooked by reception so you couldn't have any natural light if you wanted any privacy. We did ask to be moved and whilst it was fully booked the first night they did offer us a room on the ground floor for the second night, but I was still surprised that for how much we paid this was an option.

La camera molto piccola. E i comfort all'interno erano inutilizzabili. Il letto non è matrimoniale , troppo piccolo.La macchina del caffè era piena di polvere. Senza l'acqua e abbandonata a sé stessa. Le tazze macchiate . La biancheria del letto pulito solo la parte di sopra. Armadio non chiuso. Per noi non da 5 stelle per il costo della prenotazione. Un consiglio. Curate rendendo utilizzabile i comfort all'interno della camera. E eliminate i tappetti e cuscini superflui in modo da rendere la camera più igienizzabile.

Rooms need more hooks!

Recently, we celebrated our wedding anniversary at The Store. The hotel is beautifully located right in the centre of Oxford. The reception staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We arrived earlier than expected and wanted to leave our luggage at the hotel, but it turned out that our room was already ready, so we were able to check in immediately. We had booked a room with a balcony, but instead we were upgraded and given a room with a stunning terrace and breathtaking views over the city. The room itself, however, was small and, for a 5-star hotel, rather disappointing. There was not a single chair, armchair, or desk in the room. The mattress and pillows were hard and not particularly comfortable. The bathroom was nicely and modernly designed, with a spacious shower cabin. The shower gels and shampoos were excellent quality and smelled wonderful. What felt very disappointing and lacking in class, however, was the note asking guests not to take these products home, otherwise they would be charged to the bill. Is it really necessary to mention something like that in a hotel of this standard? For our anniversary, we received two complimentary drink vouchers for the bar. We decided to visit the rooftop bar, but unfortunately it was only open from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, which made very little sense. It was the middle of the week — exactly the time when most people go out for dinner. It opened too late for a pre-dinner drink and closed too early for a drink after dinner. When we arrived, there was already a queue of around 8–10 people waiting for the bar to open. Yes, there is also a lobby bar open 24 hours a day, but the rooftop bar has a unique atmosphere and spectacular views. Breakfast was another disappointment. We had the full English breakfast, and I must admit it was the worst full English breakfast I have ever had. One egg with an overcooked yolk, barely warm, a meat patty instead of proper sausages, a garlic mushroom for breakfast?

The room itself was fantastic — beautifully done, comfortable and finished to a very high standard. The location is also excellent for exploring Oxford. What really made the stay, though, was the staff. Every single member of staff we encountered — reception, bar staff and restaurant staff — were absolutely brilliant. Friendly, welcoming, attentive and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Nothing felt too much trouble, and the service was consistently warm and professional.

The only slight disappointment was the breakfast. Given the price point, I did expect a little more variety and choice. The buffet selection felt quite limited compared to what you might expect from a hotel of this standard. That said, the service and overall experience were excellent, and the staff really are a credit to the hotel.
