Property Notes

The hotel is currently undertaking the construction of a new commercial annex building located outside the main hotel building, which will be connected via a link bridge. The project is scheduled to commence in March 2026 and is targeted for completion by December 2026. The hotel remains fully operational; however, minor disturbances may occasionally occur in Deluxe and Pearl Suite Without Balcony rooms located near the adjacent structure during approved working hours (8:00 AM – 10:00 PM). Mitigation measures, including room reassignment and upgrades (subject to availability), are in place to ensure guest comfort. Complimentary Nyonya Hi-Tea (Redeemable once during check in) is valid for bookings with a minimum stay of two (2) nights, for stays from 5 April to 31 MayPlease inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation. Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply. Central location, nice bar, rooms were very nice as were staff

The breakfast was ok, not a huge variety of options and the swimming pool was quite small and quiet, so didn’t feel like the right environment for kids

"Historic gem hotel"

Beautiful hotel, well located for exploring Georgetown and great facilities.

The mini bar fridge wasn't working but as soon as we notified staff, they rectified the problem.

"Will be Back to stay at The George."

Location. LIVE music at the Bar. COzy Quiet Room. Very comfortable Bed and the curtain Block Out is very helpful. Like the board display on the history of Penang and the Peranakan culture. As its not such a large hotel, getting on the elevators and around the hotel is easy. Good Reception and Concierge service.

Pillows can be Improved on.

"I still had a wonderful experience here, although a few aspects fell slightly below my expectation."

The location is very good, and the building itself is beautiful and well decorated.

Overall, my stay was pleasant; however, for a 5-star hotel, a few aspects fell slightly below my expectations. For example, the breakfast selection was quite limited, and there was a fly flying over our table. Additionally, the room was not well soundproofed—we could clearly hear snoring from the neighboring room, children crying, as well as the sounds of switches being turned on and off.
