Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa

Marriott Perhentian is very comfortable, huge complex and from some rooms it’s almost impossible to walk to the swimming pool or the restaurants so you depend on the buggies driving around. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are great!

Be aware this is a very child friendly resort. During breakfast children are running around in a noisy and somewhat chaotic (not airconditioned) place. There are three lovely and big pools and one of those is an adult only pool. Unfortunately there are not enough sunbeds over there.

pulizia non da marriot, ho dovuto richiamare per le pulizie e varie dimenticanze, per un 5 stelle dovrebbero alzare il livello anche del cibo e dei ristoranti però un bel posto se non si pagano cifre eccessive va benissimo

The staff is very kind and the beaches connected to the resort are beautiful. The multiple pools are all very nice, with cabana areas to lounge as well as the resurant and bar are pretty decent food. The staff was incredibly friendly.

We felt for the price the resort did not meet our expectations. The island is beautiful but the resort is built a bit like a compound, it is very large with many many rows of rooms. We stayed with a group of friends and originally our rooms were close together but a last minute change on the hotels end due to a "malfunction in one of the rooms" place all of us at completely different ends of the resort. The staff use golf carts to get around and you can call ahead to get picked up from your room but at times the wait would be longer than 20 minutes and sometimes they would forget to pick you up. Upon arrival we waited over an hour for our luggage to arrive to our room, which after and early morning flight and three hour wait for the 12 pm ferry was not ideal. At some point we even took the walk back to the lobby to see if we can bring our luggage back ourselves, but our luggage was already in route. They left our luggage outside of our room and accidentally gave us someone else's luggage. The rooms didn't feel like they got cleaned very well, our arrival drink cups stayed in the room dirty from the first day till the very last day of our stay, which was strange because they would place them facedown in the drink cup area still dirty after each room cleaning. Additionally, you can feel the sand remnants still inside the room. Hand soap in the bathroom is not automatically given and we were told by the front desk that you have to request it, which we felt was strange. For the value this hotel did not meet our expectations, especially after staying at The Millen in Penang right before which was 300 euros less and had such excellent service and amenities. I understand the location adds to the price but the service just was not on par.
