The Bayou Hotel Langkawi

The room and bathroom were both huge, and the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast had a great mix of local and international options, which we really enjoyed. The pool was a good size and there was also a children’s pool, plus plenty of poolside chairs just a few steps from the hotel bar. The location was also fantastic, right in the heart of Cenang between the town and close to the beach.

Everything, from the location, to the facilities, to the friendly staff, the room was spacious and clean.

Piscine petite, les transats sont vétustes et peu confortables La chambre est globalement propre mais le sol était sale dès notre arrivée (chaussettes noires dès notre premier jour), le sol n’étant pas fait chaque jour nous avons dû demander à ce que ça soit fait. Dommage, l’hygiène est à améliorer. Le canapé du salon est petit pour un logement 4 personnes : seulement 2 personnes peuvent s’assoir.

Spent 3 nights with my adult children and we will never forget our time together at the Bayou Hotel. The staff went above and beyond, and their warm and friendly presence made our stay feel so personal. The facilities were amazing, the food, drinks, cleanliness all impossible to fault. I truly hope I can return one day. Thank you to all the staff, your exceptional service was gratefully received 🙏

The pool is really nice (although not deep) and the soundproofing in the rooms is better than average. The breakfast quality is good and varied, and it doesn't get old even after 5 days.

The huge AC just above the bed belongs in a jetplane, not in a small hotel room. Luckily, it had a few modes that allowed us to avoid some of the colder options. The staff was helpful in installing a deflector in one of the vents facing the bed. The second foam mattress on top of the main one is very soft and we sank. There's a fair bit of construction going on around the property, especially just next to the pool area. It's not so relaxing to spend your holiday trying to relax, just to see bulldozers and heavy machinery, generators, and other building equipment being constantly used and making loud noises. There's a mixed crowd staying as guests, and I can say that culture clashes occurred - for example, staying on your phone talking loudly until 3AM with a partner that is sleeping in another room is just not a thing in other parts of the world. We knocked on the wall a few times but the behaviour continued. I got weird looks from different staff members, more than I find appropriate. We tried the in-house restaurant once. Quality and price were acceptable. It was promising, it became a disappointment. Many issues to be fixed.

Friendliness of the staff, breakfast was very good, lots of choice, good coffee. The bartender (Ikmal - kili kili l…) was always in for a chat and we had nice talks with him and good laughs. He made our evenings very enjoyable. Also the receptionist, a very friendly guy who’s english was great, was always in for a chat and we love interacting with people we meet. We really had a great time at The Bayou.

Beds were a bit hard, but we asked for a topper and then it was much better.

Very good location close to the city center. Pleasant natural surroundings. Clean and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and accommodating 😊
