JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi

We stayed here at the JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi, and honestly, it blew away every expectation we had. From the moment we pulled up to that sleek modern building in Westlands, the staff were so welcoming – quick check-in, cold towels, and they even upgraded our room without us asking. The room itself was massive and super comfortable: huge king bed with the softest sheets, floor-to-ceiling windows with killer city views, and a bathroom that felt like a spa (rain shower and deep tub – yes please!). We spent way too much time just chilling there after long days out exploring. Breakfast at the main restaurant was a highlight every morning – everything from fresh juices and fruits to made-to-order omelets and some really good Kenyan coffee. We also tried dinner at one of their spots one night, and the food was top-notch. The rooftop pool area is stunning too; we grabbed drinks up there at sunset and just soaked in the vibe. Everything felt polished but not stuffy, and the location made it easy to get around Nairobi. We left wishing we could've stayed longer – if you're heading to Nairobi, this place is worth every penny. Highly recommend!

Location!! Hotel is located in westlands which is a great location for both leisure and business.

Not sure if it was a thing where i was just too keen, however, I noticed on a few occasions that some of the non black guests would get different treatment from security compared to black guests. For example on more than one occasion i have been behind white guests at security just before you enter the reception and they would be allowed in either without having to go through the body scan or have a body search and I would have to do both, this has happened more than once. It was only on one occasion where i was let through following just the body scan and that was because the security saw i had a room keycard. It was almost as if black people (women/young) that go there could possibly not have a room on their own, they have to be visiting someone or something like that or at least that’s the impression i got.

As a Marriott Gold Elite member, I travel extensively around the world and choose JW Marriott because of the reliability, comfort, and service consistency I have come to expect. Unfortunately, this stay did not reflect that standard. After nearly 24 hours of travel to Nairobi, I arrived late at night to discover that the hotel was overbooked and could not honor my confirmed reservation. I was unexpectedly driven to another non-Marriott property — something I never anticipated from a JW Marriott. This completely disrupted the start of my trip, prevented me from getting the rest I needed, and negatively impacted both my business meetings in Nairobi and important teleconferences that night. I was offered a complimentary dinner as a goodwill gesture, but given the scale of the inconvenience and the impact on my work, it felt very lackluster. A property positioned at this level should provide a much more meaningful resolution when loyal guests are displaced. Operational issues can occur, but how a hotel chooses to handle them is what defines the guest experience. Unfortunately, this incident undermined my confidence in JW Marriott Nairobi. Future travelers — especially loyal Marriott members — should be aware that overbooking is a real risk here, even with a confirmed reservation.

The service was exceptional from arrival to checkout. The staff were warm, attentive, and consistently professional. The rooms were spotless, beautifully designed, and extremely comfortable. The food, ambience, and general feel of the JW Marriott made the stay truly enjoyable.

Honestly, not much. A few small delays in service during peak hours, but nothing that took away from the overall experience.
