Hidden Treasure Lodge Chuka

The location was ideal, offering beautiful views and a serene atmosphere. The lush greenery and the soothing sounds of the rushing river created a therapeutic environment. Our rooms were comfortable and impeccably clean.

There were a couple of drawbacks. The music from the pool area and nearby bar was quite loud during the day and late into the night, which disrupted the peaceful ambiance we were hoping for. Additionally, while breakfast is usually a highlight of a stay, the continental offerings were average in quality and variety.

Location- a true hidden treasure. Amazing staff, decent room, and clean. I enjoyed the natural waterfall, plenty of spaces to relax, they have a swimming pool but didn’t use as it was rainy season though.

The breakfast was served early and was generous and served by happy staff. Well done!

The pool seemed to need some attention- check chlorine levels. Otherwise an excellent and memorable stay.

The people there are also hidden treasures; very pleasant and energetic.

Truly horrible. The hotel is really old and run down. The photos look great but the reality is terrifying. Our first room felt like a prison cell. We asked to change and thought the next was a little better but our toilet broke twice and we couldn't flush it, the staff tried to help but then it broke again. The door handle to the bathroom was broken and my partner was locked in, after that we couldn't lock it. The sheets were really old and need to retire. Breakfast was ok but the restaurant felt dirty and not anywhere you really want to eat. The entire place felt creepy and like we were in a horror movie. The owner needs to invest at least some care if not money. I have no idea how they have any decent reviews- stay anywhere else but here!

The swimming pool is nice. The staff is friendly and ready to assist.

It's generally not value for money for the following reasons: 1. The food quality is below standard for a three star restaurant. It's cooked with too much oil, the chicken is too dry therefore hard to chew, the sausages aren't fresh; probably they reheat the previous day's sausages. The food is also very expensive. The menu isn't very diversified: there's only basic meals, lots of carbs, no option for salad or for people who are diabetic. Not even an avocado. They say it's buffet breakfast but it's not, they serve you a bunch of items on a plate and that's what you're supposed to eat: basically boiled egg, fries/ wedges, spinach, a sausage and sweet potato. In my case it was very limiting since I was trying to avoid carbs. Then there was a black out, I asked them if they had a generator and they said they can't turn on the generator because it's day time. So no internet, no lights. If you work online this place might not be convenient for you, it's Chuka so mobile data might be an issue because of network coverage. The rooms are also basic. Also , yes there's parking but no shade for your car. So if you'll be there a while your car will be outside under the weather conditions. To cut the long story short, would I stay at this place again? Absolutely not.

Remote from the highway. The only noise was from the bar down the hill. Breakfast was buffet style with good choices. TV was good. The lift made it possible for me to stay there.

A bit hard to find at night as the first gate is for the bar. You have to drive up a steep hill to reach the hotel and you can't see that at night. Solar water heater so the shower did not get very warm in 10 minutes.
