"Lovely Property But Things to Know"

6.0

This is a beautiful home and everything was clean. The view from the deck off of the dining room was just lovely. But things to know include that there are over 50 steps to climb to the front door of this home, so if you have mobility issues you need to know this. The home could benefit from having a checklist of things to check between guests; for example in the master bedroom, there was an exposed outlet without a faceplate, the icemaker on the refrigerator didn't work, the fire lighter was out of fuel, and there were dead batteries in a TV remote. The website description boasts 2,000 square feet for this property, which may be true for the whole house but the lower floor of the house is blocked off for guests. The website boasts a lovely wood-burning fireplace but we didn't know we would need to bring our own wood. The house provided information about all of the rules of the house, but it would be nice to have a Welcome book that provides information to guests about Big Bear and also instructions about things like the ceiling fan remotes (where are they?) TV instructions (the bedroom TV works completely differently from the living room TV, etc. My impression (which could be right or wrong) is that this is a fairly new property to be provided as a vacation rental and again, it's a lovely home but these kinks need to be worked out.
