Villa Archodia - With Private Pool

De gastvrijheid was geweldig, wat een lieve mensen! De villa is gelijkvloers en staat op een prachtig, ruim erf met mooie tuin. De ligging is heel rustig, en toch lig je heel erg centraal, zo fijn! De villa was voorzien van een volledige inventarisatie, niets ontbrak er. Het zwembad was top, super ruim, goede diepte. Er is een bbq, en Steenoven, ruime keuken voorzien van: broodrooster, tosti ijzer, citruspers, waterkoker, koffiezetapparaat, Nespresso, oven, vaatwasser, magnetron, kraan met waterfilter. De bedden liggen heerlijk en de aanwezigheid van twee douches en toiletten is super fijn! Tijdens ons verblijf van twee weken is er schoongemaakt en zijn we voorzien van schone lakens en handdoeken. Nogmaals, de mensen zijn zo gastvrij en regelen alles. Zo ook bij een late aankomst: er was een volledige (heerlijke) Griekse maaltijd voor ons bereid! Niets meer dan lof voor deze mensen en dat zij hun prachtige huis willen delen. Hopelijk kunnen we volgend jaar weer terug!

An amazing, light, modern villa. Spacious, clean, with all the facilities you could want (plus more!), lovely gardens, plenty of secure parking, Wifi, a gorgeous pool, a pool table, and quite the friendliest, most accommodating and kind hosts you could possibly hope for. All the bedrooms had A/C and super comfortable beds. There is plenty of space to relax indoors as well as outdoors. toiletries were provided along with ample towels (including ones for the pool). The hosts even provide several spare plug adaptors. Special mention regarding the hosts - Archodia and Pandelis - they are the most wonderful people. If you don't want to engage with them, that's fine, they'll leave you be. But if you do, they're the most friendly people you could wish to meet. They had cooked us a meal for our arrival, along with a bottle of home-made wine, fruit, coffee, tea, milk, home-made olive oil etc - everything we needed for our first night and morning there. They were also happy to join us and cook other Cretan dishes during the week (a BBQ of lamb chops, chicken souvlaki, and Cretan sausages), then another in the wood oven (chicken and potatoes)) and it was genuinely lovely spending time chatting with them a couple of the evenings we were there. The villa is maybe 10 mins drive from the centre of Rethymno where there is an abundance of restaurants. There are also a number of local restaurants within 5-10 mins walk away.

We had a wonderful experience at Archodia. The villa is big, perfect for two famillies with kids, with a big yard with lots of natural shadow. The kids were very excited, they loved the swimming pool area and to run around and play. The area is very quiet. You definitely need a car, you can find a good supermarket close by (4-6 minutes). There are a few nice beaches close by (around 10-15 minutes) and Rethymno is also very close, The host was extraordinary, she took great care of us, made sure we have everything we need and even cooked for us some of the local delicacies, which were great. Thank you again for your hospitality, we had a wonderful time! We definitely recommend villa Archodia, it is perfect for those seeking peace and quiet and it is also a great base to explore Crete from, being located 1 hour from Chania or Heraklion and 30-45 minutes from many of the famous southern beaches.

We loved that the Villa was very private and all on one level (only a few steps up from the big private driveway). We had a lovely travel cot, high chair and toys provided for our little 10 month old boy. We loved the balcony at the back of the house overlooking the olive groves with view to the spectacular mountains, as well as the huge terrace area at the front with a nice garden sofa seating area. The beds were the most comfortable beds (and pillows!) that we have ever had on holiday. The owners are the nicest most friendly people you could ever meet and went out of their way to help with anything. We loved the Giannikos Tavern that was just a short drive away.

There was nothing we didn’t like, it was brilliant. If anything, maybe slightly remote but we hired a car so it was fine and we wanted somewhere a little remote and private for ourselves anyway. But still great location for both visiting Rethymnon (the old town is just gorgeous), Georgioupoli (which was our favourite place) and also you can easily reach the south of the island.

Archodia, the owner, was the most amazing host. She welcomed us with a home cooked meal, left a welcome pack of food and surprised us throughout the week with home grown produce and home baked goodies. She was unbelievably warm and generous and made our stay in her villa a very special experience. The villa was modern and clean and the pool area was lovely. A wonderful setting surrounded by trees.
