This is quite a quirky place: an 18th-century coaching inn, but very much Indian-themed. We had a small but quite pleasant room in one of the outhouses surrounding a courtyard. The restaurant isn't always open for dinner, so we went out for that, which was no particular problem. There's plenty of parking space and dogs are welcome.

The extra charge for a dog is £20. That's the highest I've ever paid, and the only time I paid it before it came with a bed, matching bowls and treats. As usual with Booking.com, I only found out about the charge after booking, by sending a message to the hotel asking if I could indeed come with the dog. (I always do this, as some hotels, even though listed as pet friendly, have a limited number of pet-accessible rooms.) Booking.com needs to manage the question of pet rooms and charges better as I chose a room at a rate of £88, then found myself paying £20 more for the dog. Breakfast is a touch minimalist: a set continental breakfast with no choices.

We had a lovely stay. It was a well proportioned room, lovely en-suite bathroom with a great shower and super fluffy towels. We were given a friendly welcome, and enjoyed a delicious breakfast.
