Hotel Sekai

This is a wonderful space. The room has a very comfortable bed and a small sitting area with a sofa. There are enough outlets plus a power strip so you can charge devices relatively easily. The shower has a rain forest head and enough hot water…it’s the simple things! The outdoor dining area (when it is warm) is a lovely place to breakfast. Staff (especially “Sue”) are all kind and helpful. Location is off a relatively calm alley bordered by the “souvenir” street and a more commercial (local) street. Easy to get most of what you need. Don’t forget the museum which is just a few minute walk from the hotel.

This hotel represented a great value for the money. Rooms were clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable and linens were clean. Everything in the bathroom worked well. Air conditioning was good. Free breakfast was included in the price. Staff spoke good English. The location was great, in the heart of thamel but on a side street so it was quieter with less foot traffic. The list goes on and on.

If I’m really nitpicking, I will say that one of the windows in the room didn’t close flush so a little noise came in. Also they don’t leave water or clean your room unless you leave your key at front desk, though you can pick up free water on the first floor at any time. And the breakfast is fine for a day or two, but there isn’t any variety so after a few days you’ll be sick of it and will probably skip it.

Hotel Sekai offered two great stays for my first trip to Nepal! The rooms and garden were very comfortable and authentic (very very good value for money from my point of view!) The stuff speaks English, created a good atmosphere and was flexible and experienced when it comes to recommendations. My individual wishes were always respected and implemented. I was able to store my luggage free of charge and was told that there was always a space available for me. That was a great feeling :)

The hotel is located right in the centre of everything. The staff is very welcoming. I really liked the breakfast which was fulfilling and tasted great.

highly recommended hotel. Great staff (especially the manager Jayaram) that will do anything to help you with all your needs. The cleanliness is great and food is delicious. Also the location is great.
