Shoulder of Mutton

Excellent venue with very friendly staff, excellent food and comfortable rooms. Dog friendly too with nearby off-road walks. Good base for visiting Richmond, Reeth and much more in this idyllic part of North Yorkshire.

When we arrived the view from the Inn carpark was a picture postcard of rolling hills and valleys with sheep grazing nearby. Our Hosts were welcoming and had provided a water bowl and matt in our room for our dog molly as well as coffee and tea making facilities and an ample supply of toiletries and fluffy towels. We booked an evening Meal at the Inn, and I chose the homemade Ham Leak and Chicken pie with Mash, and my Wife had Tarragon Chicken. Both were cooked to perfection and generously portioned. A cooked full english breakfast was on offer then next morning from 9am and set us up for our onward journey. The only point to note is that if you are looking for early start, ensure you get your order in early as it took some time for our breakfast to be prepared, albeit worth waiting for!.

Had a great weekend staying here. Owners and staff are lovely friendly people, happy to go the extra mile (like getting in black pudding for my husband's breakfast when it wasn't normally on the menu). Breakfast both morning was delicious, ditto both dinners. The onion rings are something special! Our room was small but comfortable and well appointed. Add to all this a lovely position in a quiet Dales village and I couldn't give less than full marks.
