The Cricketers Inn

We stayed here for three nights while attending a conference in Winchester. As we were out all day, we were unable to sample the meals, other than breakfast which was excellent, or the cider which others commented on! However, our stay was a very pleasant one, with great service and and very quiet and comfortable bedroom. We would hope to return at some time and connect a little more with this excellent location.

We chose to stay at The Cricketers as it was close to our cycle-route the ‘King Alfred’s Way’. We arrived very tired from a long day in the saddle and very wet from the early evening rain but were instantly made to feel welcome. With our bikes secure and after a shower, with our gear being kindly cleaned and dried by the landlord, we enjoyed our evening. Great food, seriously good cider and a good nights sleep - Top notch breakfast too!

Me and my family unfortunately stayed here one night only, June 25th…. The location was great, the room was beautiful and good equipped, the hospitality was excellent. The breakfast really very good.. To notice the kindness and helpfulness of the owner Thank you

Good food, great service, awesome cider. We stopped for lunch while walking the English Camino and reality enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended. The Thatchers Cheddar Valley is worth the visit on its own. Sandwiches well presented and very tasty. What's not to like

Andrew is doing a fab job, making this lovely little pub the hub of the community, from the library to the 5km community run. It was such a warm welcome & did exactly what we needed it to do. We loved it & will certainly return if we are ever in the area again. Thank you Andrew for such a warm welcome & looking after us.

We arrive late in the evening and had to leave early in the morning and yet they waited up for us, laid on a perfect meal and wine, and gave us an impromptu breakfast in the morning. Very understanding and very welcoming. Perfect bedrooms too. I'd love us to go back there when we've got more time.

Fantastic host

Had a lovel stay in the very oldy worldy traditional pub in an absolutely gorgeous village. Andrew was most welcoming and as previous reviews had stated making this a local pub welcoming the community as well as guests. Although rather basic the room was a good size and spotlessly clean. Pre dinner drinks outside in the sun was lovely and the pizza was delicious. We didn't have breakfast, but it was available. A perfect location for visiting the gin distillery tour and also Winchester....Steve and Caroline..😃

We booked in here as it was close to some friends, I booked direct and it was very easy sorted. On arrival we were meet by Andrew nothing was to much trouble, we meet his wife Steph later and what a super couple trying to make a go of a lovely “old pub” in a lovely little village. Andrew cooked us a breakfast each morning which was superb, we also tried the piazzas again first class. Will use this premises again when calling on our friends, and would suggest anyone wanting somewhere close to Winchester that this is worth a visit. The rooms are large and all you would expect from a village pub. But both Andrew and Steph’s attention to their clients, makes you feel like part of of the family. Good value. Will be back
