We booked a private room for 1 night, weeks in advance. We arrived at 1700 to an empty front desk and other travelers also waiting to check-in. We were told that rooms needed to be cleaned and we could wait. This wasn’t a big deal as we sat in the dining area. The employee didn’t offer us wifi or water, but made an espresso drink for another guest of the property. After an hour of waiting, we were offered to go to our room: a shared room with the other travelers ahead of us in line. This was confusing as both our groups booked private rooms. We communicate that we booked a private room and the employee said that one was going to be ready. In the meantime, he was trying to move another couple who booked a private room (and stayed the previous night) into the makeshift dorm room. We decided to cut our losses, the employee was kind enough to refund us and drive us to another property as it was night time by now.
