The Boat House Sleeps 4 Pet Friendly

Nice little house for a short stay. Parking was almost impossible though.

It was quiet.

Access to key through rubbish strewn alley. Washing line along alley and at head height so dangerous. Rooms were on various levels with short steep stairs to each of them, not suitable for people with restricted movement. No door to cleaning cupboard. Spent 30 minutes trying to get shower to work, this was unsuccessful so contacted owner, who offered refund and we left after the one night.

Poor standard of cleanliness and tired decoration

After arrival at the house we found the location of the key safe after negotiating various bins strewn in the alleyway. However after several times of trying the PIN it became obvious that the number provided was incorrect. I messaged the host directly and left a VM but was unable to make contact. I then rang Travelnest who is the managing agent who were also unable to make contact. We decided to go into town for a coffee in the hope we would get a call back, luckily after about 30 minutes the host made contact and provided the correct key safe number. The managing agent had given us the wrong number . Although all was fine in the end we were very concerned and for a while thought we might have to find somewhere else to stay the night. Eventually Travelnest phoned back to see if we had gained entry but it took them a while to follow this up. After accessing the property we found the cleanliness of the house to be very poor. The first thing I had to do was completely clean the fridge and kitchen surfaces. The carpets also had not been hoovered properly. It was a real shame as the house was in a perfect location with only a short walk to all of Dawlish’ amenities. Another point- strangely we could not access any ITV channels on the TV. Very wierd as all BBC were available . Overall we had a lovely few days but the management company let both us and the host down badly with the quality of their service.

Excellent location

The house was in a good location, fit our family of 4 well ( 2 children under 4 years old). All amenities as described. Extra toys under the stairs, aswell as a high chair and travel cot on request. The beds were comfy with clean sheets and very soft towels.

The parking was a big issue for us, the house is in a residential area ( this is advertised). Out of our 4 night stay we were only able to find parking once outside the property, all other times were atleast 1 street away. However I would like to add we were staying during the Christmas period which I think meant alot more people were at home. We didn't realise that every room was on a slightly different level up stairs, this made being there very difficult with a crawling baby ( kitchen/shower room ground floor, living area up a set of steps, bedroom one/toilet another set of stairs and the second bedroom up another set of stairs) worth thinking about if you have small children.

Comfortable and warm with of plenty of kitchen utensils

Tv couldn’t work Amazon stick and normal telly signal not very good very patchy . More info required on how to work fire stick.

There wasn’t anything
