Clean and friendly

Gingko House is affordable and in a great location, but it is definitely not for everyone. We stayed there for my husband's college reunion and it was fine, but it is totally weird and I think people should know what they are getting into. Overall I think it was a good value, but I probably wouldn't stay there again.

This place has a ton of weird quirks. Like others have said, it's extremely loud. They do give you earplugs but you can hear everything everyone else is doing--I could hear the man in the next room snoring. If you're a light sleeper this just won't work. Secondly, they make you take your shoes off in the lobby and switch them for house slippers. I get doing that at someone's home, but it's completely weird in a public business. Finally, they provide some breakfast foods, like croissants and fruit, but they also had several containers of cereal. So my husband poured himself a bowl, and went looking for the milk, and was told they don't have milk--that that was why they provide a mini fridge in our room! But in that case why provide cereal at all? It's so bizarre. The whole place is.

I find myself staying at Ginkgo House anytime I'm in the Boston/Harvard area. The house is always so clean and the staff so friendly. It's always so beautiful no matter what yime of year when visiting. I will be coming back.

The property is very attractive and the staff is attentive, but the walls are very thin and you hear everything in the next room. My stay was marred by a neighbor who coughed nonstop day and night. If privacy or silence is important to you, this place might not be for you.
