Mangroove Bay Boutique Hostel

J’y suis restée 3 nuits. Le dortoir est confortable avec un surmatelas. C’est propre. Très bon wifi. Belle piscine. Très bon restaurant sur place. Coin si vous souhaitez travailler. Cuisine à dispo. Salle de ciné.. on peut aller faire des activités nautiques ou si vous préférez profiter des environs. Salle pour faire work out ou yoga en hauteur. Il y a des travaux à côté mais pas du tout dérangeant. Ils sont en relation avec un autre restaurant qui fait salon de massage et sauna. Transport gratuit.

- Staff so friendly - Shared dorm confortable, air conditioning works perfect - Bed like capsule and with courtains, very private - Wifi works perfect everywhere - Kitchen available, also fridge - There is many areas, to be with people or to be alone (perfect for working) - It is better to rent a motorbike to go to the beach and the gym for example (because it is in another place, 10 minutes far)

Wir waren in einem der beiden Holzbungalows. Es war modern und liebevoll eingerichtet, das Bad im Freien war sehr grosszügig. Das Hostel ist super ausgestattet, das hauseigene Restaurant ist total gemütlich und das Essen ist super. Nebenan befindet sich die Organisation “Metamorfosa”, mit der man Schnorchel- und Kajakausflüge zu sehr fairen Preisen machen kann. Der Schnorcheltrip zur Menjangan Insel war defitinitiv ein Highlight. Die Verbindung zum Sumberkima Hill Retreat bedeutet, dass man die Angebote dort (Spa, Pool, Restaurants…) problemlos auch in Anspruch nehmen kann (es gibt ein gratis Shuttle, das zwischen den beiden Unterkünften fährt). Nicht zuletzt ist das Personal ausserordentlich zuvorkommend und freundlich. Wir haben uns während 5 Nächten total aufgehoben gefühlt und können das Hostel mit gutem Gewissen weiterempfehlen.

Die Matratze war für unseren Geschmack etwas zu hart. Momentan finden neben dem Hostel Bauarbeiten statt, welche man tagsüber sehr gut hört (wir bekamen jedoch eine Vergünstigung und meistens ist man ja tagsüber auch nicht in der Unterkunft). Abends hat man jeweils relativ lange noch Musik aus irgendeiner Bar in der Nähe gehört. Mit Ohrstöpseln war es ok.

Un séjour vraiment superbe à Mangroove Bay Boustique Hostel! La chambre que nous avions réservé était vraiment confortable avec tout le nécessaire de rangement! L’endroit est vraiment très mignon et ils mettent en place pleins d’équipements afin de pouvoir passer du bon temps sur place (terrain de pétanque, jeux de fléchettes, table de ping pong, coin télé, piscine). Quand nous sommes venus il y avait des travaux mais l’hôtel nous a dédommagés de 30% sur le prix de l’hôtel on a trouvé le geste commercial vraiment chouette! Nous avons mangé plusieurs fois au restaurant. La nourriture et les boissons étaient excellents! Nous avons adoré notre séjour à Mangroove Bay Boutique Hostel! C’est un joli endroit pour se détendre et passer du temps ensemble sur place! De plus il propose des cours de Yoga ainsi que d’autres activités (Gym, Muay-Thai..) en dehors de l’hôtel ! En terme d’activité il y a vraiment de quoi faire! Le staff est vraiment adorable!!

Un gros manque d’entretien dans l’hôtel si on regarde un peu le rapport qualité prix il est vrai que beaucoup de choses mériteraient d’être entretenu sur le long terme (fond de la piscine assez sale et peu entretenu.., mur de la salle de bain assez vieux et non entretenu également..) Pour le prix je pense que quelques travaux d’entretien serait nécessaire.. Pour ce qui est du restaurant tout est vraiment excellent néanmoins les prix sont assez chers pour des quantités assez minimes… Enfin concernant la chambre, tout était très bien hormis le fait que les chambres sont assez sombres.. malgré certains éclairages mis en place!

i spend the night in the dorm and got bitten all night by bugs. little red dots on my skin. dorm was very dirty with spider webs and spiders in the bed cabins, didnt look like it was cleaned very often or in the last months

Huge pool, awesome facilities and you can even go with a free shuttle to the associated resort on the hill (definitely recommended for sunsets!) WiFi is great, there is a working area, comfy chairs everywhere, movie room, fully equipped kitchen… Bar and restaurant are also great but not cheap. Budget travellers better cook themselves or go to the close warungs. Yes the offered activities like yoga or snorkelling trip are more expensive but worth their money.

The pictures during the snorkelling trip were not included in the price and they only told us after returning. Would have been nice to tell us in advance

The staff were incredibly helpful, even setting up a group chat with all the facilities to streamline communication. The food was delicious, and on my last day, I had the wonderful opportunity to sit with some of the staff who were making tipat. They kindly showed me how to make it myself, which was a fantastic experience. One of the best parts of staying at this hostel is its connection to the Sumberkima Hill Retreat hotel, its sister hotel. This means you have free access to most of their facilities, including two stunning infinity pools, which was truly next level. Additionally, there is a free shuttle bus that conveniently takes you from the hostel to the hotel and back.

I wasn't aware before arriving at the hostel, but the mangrove trees attract a lot of mosquitoes, so be prepared for quite a few bites. Additionally, the beach directly in front of the hostel isn't particularly special; you will need a boat to reach the best beaches in the area.

All staff that we met were super friendly and hospitable. The place feels new. They provide free filtered water. There’s a kitchen with a fridge and freezer where you can store you own food and drinks. There’s a pool, which we didnt use but it looks nice. A quiet rooftop area where u can do yoga etc. We stayed in one of the small wooden houses. It was cozy, comfortable bed.

Nothing of real interest in the neighboring area. Need to drive to get to a good beach or other places of interest. Also this property has a serious issue with mosquitos. Especially in the wooden house. The outdoor bathroom was absolutely full of them, and they got into the room as well.
